But where was she going to get two hundred million?
She had invested all that money in real estate.
She forced a smile and said, “Mom, maybe Sarah had an emergency. If you give her some time, perhaps she’ll be able to repay the two hundred million.”
“Joanna, I went to the police station to see her this morning, and she refused to say a word. It’s infuriating! How could I have nurtured such an ungrateful wretch? Even a dog would wag its tail at us. I raised a scorpion.”
“Joanna, I’m giving her ten days. If she doesn’t return the money within ten days, I will ask the court to enforce the judgment.”
“I heard Sarah’s husband is a lazy good-for-nothing. If he finds out his wife has two hundred million, Sarah’s fate will likely be even worse.”
Joanna frowned. She had never underestimated Wendy; the woman had a sharp mind for business.
She had learned a great deal from her.
“Mom, we still have ten days, right? Don’t worry, let’s just wait and see.”
“Joanna, take care of yourself. There are so many bad people out there, you can never be too careful. You must be cautious when you’re out there.”
Joanna’s face paled further, her expression twisting into a snarl. Why did that sound like Wendy was talking about her?
Her voice grew colder. “I understand, Mom. I have something to take care of here, so I’ll hang up now.”
Wendy smiled. “Alright, Joanna. Stay safe.”
Back in Wendy’s office.
After hanging up, a crazed smile spread across her face.
The little witch wanted to play financial games with her? In her dreams.
