Bye-bye Trash! Hello Queen! novel Chapter 6

Natalie’s brow furrowed in annoyance. What rotten luck. She’d barely set foot back in the city and she was already running into Sebastian. There was something she needed to handle here on the tenth of the month, which was why she had returned.

Her gaze, cool and distant, fell on him as he strode toward her. His tall frame was ramrod straight, exuding an innate nobility that, in every life, had made her feel leagues beneath him. Her icy eyes flickered over him dismissively. What was this loser doing here instead of hovering around Joanna?

Sebastian stared at the woman before him. Her entire demeanor had changed. For the past three months, he hadn’t been able to find a single trace of her. Only after she left did he realize how empty and cavernous the house was without her.

“I asked you a question. Where have you been?” he demanded, his voice tight with an anxiety he couldn’t place as he took in her detached expression. He had just returned from a business trip and thought he saw someone who looked like her at the arrivals gate. When he got closer, he realized it was her. She looked thinner, but her figure was even more striking.

Natalie’s gaze remained frosty. “Mr. Griffith,” she said, her red lips barely moving, “we’re divorced. Where I go is none of your concern.”

“I’ll remind you, Natalie, that we haven’t finalized the paperwork. You are still legally my wife.” Her indifference was making him frantic.

“Tsk, tsk,” Natalie said with a wicked grin. “Aren’t you supposed to be at Joanna’s beck and call? I signed the papers, but you’re the one who hasn’t filed them. Sebastian, you bastard, is this how you repay Joanna for all her scheming on your behalf?”

“You… What happened last time was Joanna’s fault, and she said she would apologize to you personally. Don’t make things difficult for her.”

Natalie had known he would defend Joanna, but she hadn’t expected him to be this shameless about it. “She staged a kidnapping, framed me, and you knocked me unconscious. I was forced to sign divorce papers and a letter of disownment. And all she has to do is offer a half-hearted apology and I’m supposed to just let it go?”

“Sebastian, you pathetic dog, stay away from me. Your breath stinks,” she sneered. “And don’t even think about showing your face around me again. You’ll ruin my chances of finding a real man.”

“Natalie, you…”

“Miss,” a respectful voice called out. A woman in sunglasses was approaching them.

“Mm,” Natalie acknowledged with a slight nod.

The woman, radiating a cool competence, walked over, took Natalie’s luggage, placed it in the trunk of a luxury car, and then held the rear door open for her.
