Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 100

"I'm not the kind of woman who, after a failed relationship, comes crawling back to you. So you can relax."

There was no need for him to keep poking at her under the guise of a joke.

She looked up, her gaze meeting his strikingly handsome face, her own expression deadly serious.

The man before her narrowed his deep-set eyes, the lazy, roguish air he usually wore vanishing inch by inch, replaced by a cold, sharp edge.

"Miss Tremaine's taste isn't just questionable—it's nonexistent."

Cynthia didn't bother to figure out where his anger was coming from. She just felt her heart sink at being insulted yet again.

This was too much.

She pressed her lips together, at a loss for a comeback, her cheeks puffed up with frustration.

Dominic glanced down at her, then turned and strode toward the hotel entrance.

Cynthia followed, neither rushing nor dragging her feet, mind racing with ways to regain the upper hand in front of Dominic.

Suddenly, he spun around and pulled her right into his arms, pinning her gently against a marble column in the center of the lobby.

The abrupt move startled her. His face was so close she could hardly think straight.

"What are you—"

She'd barely started to protest when he pressed a hand over her mouth.

He leaned in even closer, his warm lips brushing across her skin, his breath hot against her cheek in a way that sent a shiver down her spine.

This kind of intimate, almost brazen contact made Cynthia's fingertips tremble.

She held her breath, tense, as someone strode past them. As they passed, a mocking whistle cut through the air.

"Man, you really can't wait, huh? Right here in the lobby?"

Cynthia's expression shifted instantly—she recognized Zachary's voice, and her face turned cold.

Her hand, pressed against Dominic's chest, stopped pushing and simply clenched in frustration.
