Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 112

"Didn't you hear earlier? That woman outside—she's pregnant. My guess is she's trying to use it as leverage, forcing her way in, and Miss Tremaine is taking revenge. But who could've guessed Mr. Shepard's mother had a video up her sleeve?"

"If you ask me, none of them are innocent. It's like watching one wolf tear into another—nobody comes out clean."

"Aren't you even a little curious about the video Mrs. Shepard's holding? You know what they say—those elegant, demure women are always full of surprises in the bedroom."

The man who spoke leered openly, his gaze lingering on Cynthia, hungry and crude.

Upstairs, Assistant Shaw stood beside Dominic, clicking his tongue in disapproval.

"Lois must've figured Miss Tremaine wouldn't be able to prove that they were the ones pulling the strings last night, so she's determined to ruin her reputation instead."

"Anyone who's witnessed this little performance today will spread the word as soon as they leave. Don't you think you should go down there and help Miss Tremaine set the record straight?"

Dominic's hand gripped the banister so hard his knuckles stood out, but his expression remained cold and indifferent.

"I'm not that bored."

Assistant Shaw watched as Dominic started down the steps, raising an eyebrow with a wry smile.

Dead men tell no tales, but even the most stubborn mule wasn't as tight-lipped as him.

Father Benedict made no attempt to stop Lois, standing off to the side looking distinctly displeased.

Things had escalated beyond control—there was no way he'd walk away from this unscathed. Still, if the blame was shared around, maybe he'd take less of the hit.

As he listened to the gossip swirling around him, he realized his plan had already succeeded.

With a dark look, he swept his gaze over the Shepard family's relatives, who were already ushering Giselle and Lois toward the exit.

They barely reached the door before someone blocked their path.

Mr. Whitaker strode into the hall.
