Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 122

She'd been away from the Capital for ten years, and now, the first time she returned, her own sister couldn't even be bothered to pick her up.

Honestly, that was a little heartless.

After all, they were each other's only family left in the world.

Dominic shot her a sideways glance, adjusted his posture in the back seat, and spoke in his usual understated way.

"The Tremaines have been sitting on a useless piece of land for years. With Holloway Enterprises moving operations to Cloudcrest City, a lot of people are paying attention, so your sister decided to seize the opportunity. She's put together a dinner tonight to try and get it sold."

Dominic's words piqued Cynthia's interest, and she slid into the car in a hurry.

"Which piece of land?"

"Barrett Village," Dominic replied.

At that, Cynthia nearly saw stars.

Barrett Village was the least promising little suburb on the edge of Cloudcrest City. For years, all the city's development plans had fixated on Westborough and Southborough, leaving Barrett Village out in the cold.

They'd briefly considered Barrett Village as the site for the new airport, but in the end, Southborough got the nod.

Once upon a time, there had been a few big factories out there, but those were long gone. The land values had tanked.

Now, Barrett Village was nothing more than a forgotten backwater—no culture, no industry, nothing to recommend it.

Cynthia could only silently pray her sister would pull off the sale.

If the location of the new airport was announced, Barrett Village's land would become truly worthless.

Dominic watched the way her eyebrows knit together, a flicker of impatience in his eyes, but his voice was casual.

"Don't get worked up."

"I'm not," Cynthia replied.
