Cynthia didn't fall asleep until the early hours of the morning.
By the time she woke up, her sister was already gone.
She rubbed her eyes and glanced at her phone—already past nine.
As soon as she powered it on, a flood of notifications popped up.
Most of them were from Benedict.
Seeing that familiar number made her feel sick.
Without even reading the messages, she deleted and blocked him in one smooth motion.
There were also a few texts from Jenny and Mr. Fletcher, all checking in and expressing concern.
Given how disastrous the wedding was yesterday, they probably assumed she was heartbroken.
But honestly, she wasn't.
Maybe because ever since she'd discovered Benedict's affair, she'd replayed every possible scenario of the wedding in her mind a thousand times, her pain already dulled and dissected long before the day itself.
She replied to Jenny and Mr. Fletcher, then got up, hugged her pillow, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
She hadn't forgotten the task Juliet had assigned her.
No matter what, today she was starting at Holloway Enterprises.
By the time Cynthia came downstairs, Camilla had already set the breakfast table.
When she saw Cynthia, she hurried out from the kitchen with a plate in hand.
"Your sister left early this morning. Before she left, she told me to make sure you ate a proper breakfast."
Cynthia slid into a chair and picked up the glass of milk in front of her, taking a small sip. "Did she eat before she left?"
Camilla nodded. "It's been years since she's had breakfast at home, but today she asked me to prepare it. She seemed in good spirits—probably because you're back."
Cynthia smiled. "You'll have to help me make sure she keeps eating breakfast too."
