Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 203

Benedict’s calculations were as precise as ever, but Cynthia wasn’t playing along.

“Who’s supposed to side with you? Giselle Channing?” she shot back, her voice ice-cold.

The moment that name left her lips, the entire room fell silent. Not a single person dared to breathe too loudly.

Benedict’s expression darkened; his eyes drilled into Cynthia with a sharpness that could’ve cut glass. Still, Cynthia met his gaze without a hint of fear, her posture relaxed, a mocking smile on her lips.

“You’re the reason VistaSphere Group is in this mess—your own scandals dragged us down. I’m the one who got hurt in all this. Why should I selflessly hand over twenty percent of my shares just to save the company?”

“Just because I own more shares, I’m supposed to sacrifice myself for everyone else?”

“If someone wants to sell their shares, let them. But it’s not going to be me.”

She finished, then grabbed a stack of documents from the table and tossed them toward Director Bell.

“This proposal is garbage. If I were you, I’d be too embarrassed to even ask for a five percent stake.”

With a disdainful snort, she strode out of the conference room.

Benedict pushed himself out of his chair and called after her, his voice low and stern. “The meeting isn’t over, Cynthia. Where do you think you’re going?”

She paused in the doorway, turning just enough to fix him with a frosty look. “Why bother sitting through a meeting that’s got nothing of value to offer?”

His frown deepened. “So now you’re telling me you won’t do anything for VistaSphere Group anymore?”

A smirk played at the edge of Cynthia’s lips. “Haven’t I done enough already? When we founded this company, I was the only one who put up any capital.”

She glanced over at the other end of the table. “Mr. Shepard, you’ve been living off me for years—now you want to play tough?”

Benedict’s face went rigid, anger flickering in his eyes.

Cynthia’s own gaze grew more defiant. She didn’t care in the slightest about his feelings. Without another word, she turned and left the room.
