Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 235

Cynthia walked up to Terrance, slowed her steps, and gracefully slipped her arm through his.

“Dad, it feels like ages since we’ve sat down and had a proper meal together. How about dinner tonight? Just the two of us. Let me tell you about my plans for VistaSphere Group and what the future could look like. After you’ve heard me out, you can decide whether or not you want to buy a stake in the company. What do you think?”

Terrance mustered a polite, practiced smile, wary of whatever trap Cynthia might be setting for him. He didn’t hesitate to refuse.

“I’ve already got dinner plans tonight, maybe another time. How about we invite Ms. Sutherland and have the whole family together? We can sit down and talk everything through then.”

Since Cynthia and her mother had come back to Cloudcrest City, she’d never been this pleasant with him—unless it served her own interests. If there wasn’t something in it for her, she wouldn’t even bother to be civil.

He’d heard rumors at Juliet’s welcome banquet about the Tremaines and the Holloways rekindling their partnership. Cynthia was clearly trying to dump the mess of VistaSphere Group on him, but he wasn’t about to fall for it.

Cynthia’s eyes sparkled. “Then I’ll wait for your call.”

Terrance nodded and gently pulled his arm out of her grasp. “I need to get going.”

With that, he strode away.

Cynthia followed him out, and Terrance immediately straightened up, all his guard back in place. Noting his wariness, a cold smile flickered in Cynthia’s eyes. She walked ahead and pressed the elevator’s down button for him.

She caught Benedict peeking from the conference room doorway. On purpose, she leaned closer to Terrance, lowering her voice so only the two of them could hear.

“Dad, if you ever seriously consider investing in VistaSphere Group, come to me first. I’m willing to sell you a portion of my shares—and I’ll offer you a better deal than Benedict ever could.”

Her voice was barely above a whisper, so Benedict couldn’t make out a word.

Terrance faced the elevator, his expression hidden from Benedict.

“I’ll think about it,” he replied quietly as the elevator doors slid open. He practically dashed inside.
