Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 91

Lois hesitated, her eyes flickering with doubt and anxiety under Giselle's persuasion.

It was true—Cynthia hadn't called her once during this entire period.

What kind of wedding didn't have the groom's mother at the helm, arranging everything?

She'd poured her heart and soul into raising Benedict, only to find herself with no real say in his life or in his marriage—never given the respect or place a mother deserved.

She couldn't just let Cynthia walk all over her any longer.

"What have you got in mind to deal with her?" Lois asked, fixing Giselle with a searching, skeptical look.

Benedict and Cynthia were getting married in just two days. Honestly, Lois doubted Giselle could come up with anything that would really work against Cynthia.

But a faint, knowing smile played at the corners of Giselle's lips. She leaned in close, lowering her voice to a conspiratorial whisper.

"It's not my idea. Benedict's best friend is the one with the plan."

"This isn't just a way to put Cynthia in her place in front of Benedict—it'll make her utterly obedient to him."

Lois's eyes lit up with interest. "Obedient enough to willingly give up every penny of company assets?"

Giselle nodded without hesitation. "Absolutely."

Lois eyed her, suspicion plain on her face. She wasn't buying it—not yet.

Giselle cupped her hand over her mouth and murmured Zachary's plan softly into Lois's ear.

"Benedict probably still cares about Cynthia, so he's reluctant to use this on her," Giselle added, watching Lois's expression.

Lois wavered. She'd seen the way Benedict looked at Cynthia. If he ever found out his own mother had schemed against Cynthia, let alone joined forces with someone else to ruin her reputation, he'd never forgive her.
