"A week has passed, Ms. Alyssa. Why haven't you summoned me back to your side?" he asked hoarsely.

"Because I'm waiting for you to let this go." Alyssa leaned against the wall, meeting his soft gaze. "Have you made up your mind this past week, Sean?"

"I'm sure you'll find someone who loves you truly, just as much as you love them, Ms. Alyssa," Sean croaked out, his eyes reddening.

"I won't make the same mistakes again." Alyssa waved her hand languidly. "I have loved, and I have lost. All I want to do now is make lots of money and be single forever!"

"Does … Does that mean I can work by your side again?" Sean asked awkwardly. "I … I feel like a fallen log ready to sprout mushrooms after a week of no work."

"Oh, of course you can! Welcome back to your queen's side, dear knight," Alyssa teased and extended her hand out to him.

Sean beamed. He respectfully held her hand and gently kissed her knuckles. "It is my honor to serve you till the end of my days, my queen."

Their eyes met, filled with a shared understanding and joy.
