Caught In His Embrace A Second Chance Romance novel Chapter 436

Sienna was taken aback for a moment. She understood why Cedric was asking this. It was probably because she and Josiah seemed to be getting along too well...

"We haven't reconciled." Sienna shook her head, sighing softly with a hint of amusement in her voice. "We've just reached an understanding."

"An understanding?" Cedric furrowed his brow, trying to process the word. Disbelief and joy warred within him. "You mean you're not back together?"

"Yes." Sienna nodded, laughing lightly. "That's right."

Cedric was both surprised and overjoyed. The weight that had been hanging over his heart for days finally lifted.

He thought that after Sienna learned what Josiah had done for her, she would change her mind... But she didn't, which meant that he still had a chance.

Cedric suppressed the joy surging within him. He had to restrain himself. Joyce was still in the hospital, and he had promised Sienna that he would wait for her.

"Cedric..." called out Sienna.

"Sienna," called Cedric at the same time.

Sienna chuckled. "Why don't you go first?"

Cedric was hardly able to contain his joy as he offered, "Well... I was wondering where you were headed and if I could give you a ride?"

Right then, the elevator stopped at the underground garage level.

"That's okay. I drove over today." Sienna, smiling, shook her head and pointed toward her car.

The light in Cedric's gaze dimmed as he mumbled, "Is that so..."

Sienna smiled as she took out her car keys. "I'm headed to finish up the dubbing for my drama. It's more convenient to drive since I'm not sure what time I'll be done."

"That's true." Cedric sighed.

"My car is parked over there." Sienna pointed toward where her car was parked.

Cedric pointed in the opposite direction. "Mine is over there..."

"Let's say goodbye here then," suggested Sienna.

"Okay, goodbye," mumbled Cedric.

Sienna turned and trotted over to her car.

Cedric gazed at her retreating figure and didn't leave immediately. He could sense that Sienna was still keeping her distance. However, it didn't matter. He had all the patience in the world for the one he loved.

As Sienna found her car, got in, and drove off, she sighed in relief. She could sense that Cedric was still waiting for her. Right now, she only considered him as a friend and nothing more... Something she had told him before.

Sienna started wondering, 'Maybe I should find another opportunity to talk to him about it. But what if he persists? If it were anyone else, I wouldn't mind throwing hurtful words at them, but Cedric's different.

'Even while being adamant in his wishes, he was always polite and restrained, knowing his limits. He neither pressures nor pesters me to the point of annoyance...'

In the inpatient building, after putting Joyce to sleep, Josiah leaned back on the couch as he dealt with his work on his laptop.

Just then, his phone on the table vibrated. He picked it up, glanced at it, and hung up before following up with a text message.

He texted: [It's not convenient to answer the phone right now. I won't be back to Silver Beach for the next half a month. Take care of yourself, and contact Zach if you need anything.]

The other side replied quickly: [Are you at the hospital?]

Josiah was momentarily stunned before replying concisely: [Yes]

The other person texted back: [Got it.]

The conversation ended there.

On the other end of the line, Yvette held her phone tightly, her lips curling into a sneer. She was already aware of Josiah and Sienna's daughter.

She deduced it easily from the fact Josiah had even returned to the Evans family, a place he had vowed never to set foot in again just for their sake.
