Caroline’s POV
After the most incredible weekend of my life, we were back at the office.
Draven had spoken with Mabel and hired her full-time with a significantly better salary, since she would soon be caring for our second child. He also convinced her to move into the pack house, allowing her to rent out her cottage for additional income. She seemed pleased with the arrangement.
Draven arranged a driver for Liam.Actually,he"borrowed" Ryan’s driver, who couldn’t refuse when Draven said it was for Liam’s safety. My mate had also introduced me to the security team that would be permanently stationed at our home. I particularly liked Mathias, who seemed both professional and kind-hearted.
When we arrived at Thorne Enterprises, several employees greeted us.
Many positions still needed to be filled, and those chosen for management roles would be selected by Draven, Ryan, Clara, and Arthur. As the elevator doors opened on our floor, I spotted Nina waiting with a bright smile.
"Good morning, Alpha and Luna!" she greeted cheerfully.
"Nina, what’s with the formality? We’re friends," I gently chided her.
"Yes, we are. But here, you’re my Luna and he’s my Alpha!" Nina replied warmly, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
"And you, sweetie, can we move up our girls’ night? Like, to tonight?"
"Already trying to steal my mate, Nina?" Draven narrowed his eyes playfully.
"Oh, Alpha Draven! It’s an emergency!" Nina pleaded dramatically. "I promise I’ll return her by midnight."
"You’d better," Draven warned with a smile before leaning down to whisper in my ear. "I’m going to do wicked things to this gorgeous body when you get back."
"Draven!" I whispered back, feeling heat rise to my cheeks. "As if you needed me to go out for that to happen."I gave him a knowing smile, then turned to Nina.
"Alright, Nina. I’ll mind-link the girls, but what did the investigator do?"
Nina glanced nervously between Draven and me, clearly uncomfortable discussing the matter in front of him.I squeezed her hand reassuringly, promising to arrange things with the girls, then headed to my office with Draven following close behind.
In my office, a beautiful bouquet of tulips awaited me with a handwritten card that read,
"My beloved mate,
I fall deeper in love with you each day. You are my certainty.
Thank you for loving me.
I hope to win your heart anew every day, so you’ll continue to love me.
Always yours, your devoted mate,
Draven"
"Oh, my love!" I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him passionately. "How do you find time to write these cards and send these flowers?"
"I wake up a little earlier, my angel," Draven smiled against my lips. "And I have a little help."
"I will love you every day," I whispered before kissing him again, then added in his ear, "And I’m coming home in a particularly naughty mood tonight."
"Mmm, is that a promise?" he asked, his lips brushing against my neck.
"You can count on it," I replied, pressing my lips to his again, feeling the familiar heat building between us.
"This is supposedly why honeymoons exist—so you can make out all you want, and when you return to society, you can control yourselves," Clara teased as she entered my office with Arthur.
"Ah, Clara, I’m certain the honeymoon will be insufficient to keep my hands off my mate during office hours," Draven replied, still caressing my face with a tenderness that made my heart swell.
"Perhaps we should ask Nina to announce us before we come in here," Arthur laughed good-naturedly.
"Don’t be silly, Arthur. We can control ourselves. We’re not teenagers," I said, attempting to sound serious despite the blush creeping up my neck.
"Speak for yourself, angel," Draven murmured. "But since you’re here, let’s head inside. It’s almost time for our meeting with John."
"That’s why we came," Clara smiled knowingly.
We entered Draven’s office, and Clara began sharing how she was adapting to her new position. She was enjoying it and being well-received by the staff. With everything that had happened, many employees were approaching her about Howard’s terrible behavior. Several female staff members had complained about harassment.
