Caroline’s POV
Girls’ night had been exactly what I needed. For a few blissful hours, I’d completely forgotten about that disturbing package at work. As Eleanor checked her watch, signaling it was time to wrap up, I mind-linked Draven to come get us.
"Ladies, our rides should be here soon," I announced, finishing my cocktail.
Ruby giggled, checking her reflection. "Five bucks says they’ve been circling the block for the last hour."
"Ten says they’ve been stalking the security cameras," Ava countered, making us all laugh.
Sure enough, less than five minutes later, the Social Club’s doors swung open and six tall, devastatingly handsome men strode in. Other women in the club stopped mid-conversation to stare.
Draven’s eyes found mine instantly. That possessive gaze still made my knees weak. He crossed the room in long strides and wrapped his arm around my waist.
"Ready to go home, my mate?"
"I was thinking maybe another hour?" I teased, loving the slight narrowing of his violet eyes.
"Not happening," he growled softly against my ear. "I’ve been waiting all night."
Across the room, Nina was desperately trying to convince Jace she shouldn’t go to his place. "I can just get a cab. Really, it’s fine."
Jace listened for approximately three seconds before bending down, throwing her over his shoulder like she weighed nothing, and heading for the door.
"Put me down, you big oaf!" Nina shrieked, her tiny fists pounding his back.
"You said you were tired. I’m helping," Jace replied calmly, nodding to the bouncer as they exited.
"Oh my god," Eleanor whispered, covering her mouth to hide her laughter. "That poor girl is in for it tonight."
Joseph approached Ava next. "You’re coming with me."
"Absolutely not," Ava crossed her arms. "Dream on."
Joseph leaned closer, whispering something that made Ava’s cheeks flush scarlet. "Last chance to come willingly, or I’ll carry you out like Jace did."
"You wouldn’t dare," she hissed.
"Try me." The challenge in Joseph’s eyes was unmistakable.
Something in his expression must have convinced her. "Fine," Ava huffed, grabbing her purse. "But we’re just talking tonight. Nothing else."
"We’ll see," Joseph smirked, guiding her toward the exit with his hand firmly on her lower back.
In the parking lot, Draven opened the passenger door for me. As soon as he slid into the driver’s seat, his hand found my thigh, fingers tracing slow circles against the fabric of my dress.
"Did you have fun?" he asked, pulling onto the road.
"I did. The girls needed it too," I said, placing my hand over his. "Nina’s absolutely terrified of Jace, you know."
"Terrified isn’t the word I’d use," Draven chuckled. "The way she looks at him when she thinks no one’s watching? That’s pure want."
His hand inched higher up my thigh. "Speaking of want..."
"Eyes on the road, Alpha," I teased, but made no move to stop him.
"Besides, I seem to remember making you a promise this morning."
Heat pooled low in my belly. "What promise was that again?"
"To do unspeakable things to your body all night long," he whispered, his fingers slipping beneath the hem of my dress.
We barely made it through the front door. Draven kicked it shut behind us and had me pressed against the wall in one fluid motion. His mouth claimed mine hungrily as his hands worked their way beneath my dress.
"Liam?" I managed to gasp between kisses.
"Sound asleep. Mabel just left." His voice was rough with need as he lifted me, my legs instinctively wrapping around his waist. "I’ve been thinking about this all night."
He pushed me against the window ledge.
