"Because you're the only one I know here."
Perhaps even Alexander didn't notice his words carried a faint, spoiled tone.
Isabella wasn't sure whether she was bewitched or had lost her mind, but the words slipped out anyway. "Will I get a raise if I become the general manager's secretary?"
As soon as she said it, she wanted to take it back. Was she blinded by money to actually consider being Alexander's secretary? Putting his temper aside, their past made it impossible for them to work together peacefully.
"30 thousand dollars!"
"Deal," she agreed without hesitation.
Nobody in their right mind would turn down 30 thousand dollars. With that amount, she could give more money to Theodore.
The thought of Theodore lightened her mood instantly. Despite sharing the same surname, one was compassionate while the other was arrogant and insufferable.
Just then, a knock sounded on the door, and a stunningly beautiful woman walked in.
When the woman noticed Isabella, her eyes widened with surprise, but she quickly gathered herself and nodded gracefully at her.
Isabella's first impression of her was that she was formidable, and her instinct was right.
Alexander instantly stood up when he saw her, and his tone became polite. "Ms. Collins, what brings you here?"
Emma walked to his desk and set a folder down. "Mr. Sinclair asked me to deliver this, Mr. Alexander. He was worried you might face problems after taking over the company."
"Please thank my uncle for his concern."
