"Thank you…" Isabella said to the bartender, Ian Hoffman.
Earlier, Alexander had acted shamelessly, insisting on staying no matter what. So, Isabella had no choice but to go downstairs to get help.
When Ian overheard her speaking with a waiter, he offered to give her a hand. "I'll do it. I'll do it!"
"No worries, Mrs. Sinclair. Will you be able to manage him on your own?" he asked as he generously helped her get Alexander into the cab.
Isabella got in as well, too exhausted to correct his misunderstanding of her relationship with Alexander. Even till now, she had no idea where Alexander lived. Thus, all she could do was to send him back to the Sinclair residence.
Right after their cab left, Ian turned around to head back into the bar. It was at this moment that he ran right into Queenie. He gasped, then exclaimed in surprise, "Ms. Klein, you're back? Oh my, it's been a long time…"
"Hey, Ian. You've become even more charming since the last time I saw you a few years ago," Queenie remarked.
"Oh, you're too kind, Ms. Klein. Not only are you a stunner, but you're a sweet-talker too. It's no wonder that Mr. Theodore Sinclair fancies you."
Queenie smiled. Suddenly, she asked, "Was that Alexander?"
Ian laughed casually and replied, "Yeah, that was Mr. Alexander. You came too late, Ms. Klein. Otherwise, you would've been able to see what he's like when he's drunk."
He chortled, then continued, "Ms. Klein, while you were away these few years, you didn't get to see how often Mr. Alexander got himself drunk. I really never thought…"
"Oh?" Queenie's interest was piqued. "Alexander doesn't look like the kind of person who'd get himself drunk. What happened to him?"
A mysterious smirk crossed Ian's face. He whispered, "Who knows? He locks himself in his private room every time. He'd get drunk, then leave on his own the next day. I'm guessing…"
Ian's voice trailed off as he intentionally kept Queenie in suspense. He chuckled before continuing, "I'm guessing that he's lovesick…"
Queenie smiled and nodded, making Ian feel heard. After he ran out of things to say, she asked, "Do you know the person he left with earlier?"
Upon hearing that, Ian's ears perked up yet again. He grinned and answered, "That person? That was his fiancee, Ms. Klein! My guess is that she's the person he thinks of whenever he gets drunk!"
Queenie raised a brow the moment she heard that, as if she had just caught a whiff of something fishy. She pressed on, "Do you know what her name is?"
Ian pondered for a moment. "I think she's called Bella… something…"
Queenie's eyes lit up. "Isabella Moore, am I right?"
