Claimed By My Stepbrother novel Chapter 39

Camila POV

I spun, stapping the hand away as my heart nearly burst out of my chest. Three men stood in front of me, their ? hidden by black masks.

Three strange men.

My stomach dropped, and every ounce of air in my lungs seemed to vanish in an instant. One of them stepped closer his voice muffled by the mask. Is this the one?He asked.

The second one nodded like I wasn’t even standing right there, terrified out of my mind.

Yeah, that’s her.

I took a step back, my chest heaving as panic surged through me. What the hell? Who are these guys?

Who the hell are you?I demanded, my voice trembling despite my best efforts to sound tough.

The guy in the middle chuckled, a sound that made my skin crawl. Feisty. I like that.

Before I could say anything else, one of them lunged, grabbing my arm. I yanked away, but his grip was like steel. Another one pulled out a cloth, and the sharp chemical smell hit me like a brick. My stomach turned. Oh no, no, no. I’ve seen enough crime dramas to know where this is going.

Chloroform.

Let go of me!I screamed, kicking out with everything I had. My foot connected with something solid, and the guy holding me grunted in pain. I twisted, elbowing another in the ribs.

For a split second, I thought I had a chance. Then the third guy grabbed me, yanking me back.

I thrashed, screaming, Help! Somebody, help me!

They tried to wrestle me down, but adrenaline kicked in. I stomped on one guy’s foot, hard, and he howled in pain. The other one reached for the cloth again, and I bit his hand- hard enough to draw blood.

Damn it, hold her still!one of them shouted.

Not today, assholes. I swung my arm wildly, smacking the third guy in the face, and I planted my foot on the ground and shoved my heel back, catching the other guy in the groin. He doubled over with a groan, as soon as I felt his grip

loosen, I ran.

I ran like my life depended on it, because, well, it probably did.

Their shouts echoed behind me, and I could hear their footsteps pounding against the pavement. I didn’t dare look back. I just kept running, my lungs burning, my legs screaming in protest. Behind me, I could hear them shouting, their voices laced with frustration and anger.

Get her!

Chapter 39

She heading for the main road.

The sound of their footsteps was too close, too loud.

And then I heard it.

A growl.

Not from me. Definitely not from them. Somethingelse. Something inhuman.

Against my better judgment, I glanced back.

Ethan.

At least, I think it was Ethan. His eyes glowed gold, his face twisted into something terrifying. He moved like a predator, grabbing two of the men like they were nothing. One was slammed against the wall, his body crumpling on impact, while the other dangled in the air, Ethan’s hand wrapped around his throat.

The third guy tried to run, but Ethan grabbed him too, tossing him like a ragdoll.

I froze, my brain refusing to process what I was seeing.

Ethan wasn’t human. He couldn’t be.
