Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 443

Mrs. Lennox rose with a smile. "What a coincidence, Mr. Howard is here too." She looked at Charlotte. "Are you sure you two didn't come together?"

Charlotte averted her gaze, a touch of embarrassment in her smile. "It's just a coincidence."

"Well, Mrs. Howard is here too! This is wonderful," Chairman Lennox declared. "Mr. Howard, you and your wife must stay for dinner. It's been too long since we've had company!"

"I'll go tell the kitchen," Mrs. Lennox said cheerfully.

Evander sat down opposite Charlotte. She turned her head slightly, picking up her teacup for a sip.

"Mrs. Howard, I hear you and my daughter are good friends," Chairman Lennox said, turning to her. "I assume you came to see her."

Charlotte paused. "Yes, I thought she was home."

"She's not here at the moment, but you and Mr. Howard will see her at the wedding next week."

Charlotte offered a polite smile, her eyes downcast. Chairman Lennox seemed thrilled with the marriage. How could she convince him it might be a trap?

Evander looked at the preoccupied Charlotte, took a sip of tea, and said casually, "They say Neely is an ambitious and cunning man. Miss Lennox is your only daughter. Are you certain you can trust the Vinterbergs?"

Chairman Lennox was taken aback. After a moment of thought, he replied, "I haven't had much contact with him, but you know my company's current situation. He has promised me a ten percent stake in the Nolan Group. With that on the table, I doubt he's interested in my family's modest fortune."

A ten percent stake in the Nolan Group would make him a core shareholder. The company was on a strong trajectory; barring any unforeseen disasters, its future was bright.

Evander simply smiled—a smile that held a hint of amusement, and perhaps, disdain.

Charlotte rose from her seat. "May I use your restroom?"

"Of course," Chairman Lennox said, instructing a housekeeper to show her the way.
