"Did you say Director Ramsay went home?" Jonathan asked in disbelief.

Audrey nodded.

Why did she go home?

The ominous feeling was getting stronger, then Jonathan asked imperatively, "Are Director Ramsay and the president's DNA verification reports out yet?"

"Director Ramsay didn't do the DNA test."

"What?" After hearing that, everyone was flummoxed. If she did not do the DNA test, then what did she do at the hospital?

Audrey looked around, then gritted her teeth and did what Patrick had told her to do back at Land of Fragrance. She announced it all at once, "Everyone, it has been proven that Director Ramsay is not the president's daughter."

Jonathan fell back on the chair in shock and could not come back to his senses for a long while.

The rest were no better than him, and the whole meeting room soon buzzed in a frenzy.

It would not have been that noisy but, Jonathan had run the meeting for two hours, and the managers could only suppress their suspicions for these two hours. So, Audrey relaying the news had undoubtedly opened a venting opportunity for them, and everyone had opinions to spill.

Facing the ruckus she had created, Audrey's heart pounded faster as she raised her volume, "However, according to the president's wife, Alice Green, Director Ramsay has always been the apple of the president's eyes. Otherwise, how could he have let Director Ramsay take over Apex Construction Corporation? Therefore, even if she's not the president's biological daughter, her position in the Ramsay family and Apex Construction Corporation will never change!"

Audrey's words had a slight calming effect.

After all, the position of being the director was not hereditary, so it need not be handed over to someone who was biologically related to the president.

Daniel Phillips was a good example. He was only George's son-in-law but had managed to become the acting director with his capabilities.

Jonathan's dimmed eyes suddenly lit up with hope. Why did he not think of that? The acting director's position was supposed to be decided by each of their ability, so what did it have to do with being related to the president?

In the next second, the conference room door banged open with a slam.

Everyone looked towards the door and saw Kaleb swaggering in, followed by Brittany.

If Amelia was a woman who was cold and distant, then Brittany was cute and approachable. From her appearance, Brittany was not as intimidating as her sister and looked easier to manipulate.

Kaleb greeted Jonathan casually as he entered,

"Hey, Jonathan. It's not an easy job dragging an one-hour meeting to three hours. You've worked hard."

Jonathan flared up the moment he saw Kaleb. "I think you're the one who worked hard. Some time ago, you were opening up a wasteland abroad, and now you're running around with that girl. Aren't you afraid of straining your old back when you're so busy?"

"Why should I be afraid? It's all for the company!" answered Kaleb with a smile.

Jonathan spar contemptuously, "I think you came back to make trouble!"

The scene once again fell silent but, it did not mean that everyone agreed with Jonathan. Those who had other intentions were all thinking about how to refute him.

After a while, someone interjected, "Mr. Tucker, I don't deny Director Ramsay's contribution. But, someone else might have done a better job than her."

Jonathan smiled coldly at the person who spoke. "You meant someone better that could find another investor stronger than Sawyer Quartley?"

After the man was rebutted, he answered seethingly, "You're right, Director Ramsay has made a lot of contributions to the company. But, she has also caused a lot of scandals! Just like what happened to Mr. Quade, it was exposed that she engaged in business by sleeping around. What's the big deal about her then?"

Jonathan slammed the desk and fired back, "And you believe in the rumours? And to think you're the senior manager of the company..."

The man was taken aback but continued after receiving looks of encouragement from Kaleb, "And it's precisely because I'm the senior manager of the company that I feel upset after hearing such rumours!

"No matter if the rumours were true or not, there would always be at least one person who would treat it as the truth! This way, how can we maintain our company's reputation?"

"Some of the rumours can't be explained by just one or two press conferences. Some of it will stick by for as long as Amelia lives!" "And at the thought of letting this notorious woman lead the company, I feel ashamed for everyone present in this room..."
