Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1524

Amelia asked subconsciously, "What's that?"

Jessica replied gloomily, "He was inconquerable through ordinary ways."

Amelia fell into a dilemma. That guy certainly could not be regarded as a kind person especially after learning his brutality. However, he was not entirely evil either. After all, it was never his intention to take advantage of women. For once, Amelia could not evaluate what kind of a man he was.

It was at this time when she heard Jessica saying, "Just as I was overwhelmed by frustration, he stomped and broke into my room one night. Panting heavily, he dragged me along to my bed.

I was frightened at that time. Although I had been hoping that there would be some chemistry between us, at that moment when it did happen, I couldn't help but recall the traumatized experience in the past.

As a result, every inch of my body went stiffed. Perhaps he too noticed that I was shaking agitatedly, he looked at me in my eyes and assured me that he wouldn't hurt me. He began to convince me into relaxing myself...

He repeated this sentence over and over again. It was as if I had been hypnotized into listening to him. At last, I did relax myself."

Amelia's expression darkened when she commented solemnly, "There was no way that he could deny his responsibility this time."

Jessica's eyes were filled by agony as she went on to say, "The next day when he woke up, he explained calmly to me about what had happened. It turned out that he went for a business meeting the previous night.

In order to flatter him, his business partner drugged him without his prior consent. His business partner even got him a handful of beautiful women.

He ran back to the apartment before the drug effect had kicked in. That explained away his odd behavior that night. In other words, what he wanted to emphasize was that it was not his attention to sleep with me.

He wished that I could forget about the other night if possible. He also promised that he would compensate me handsomely. Alongside, he even got me a morning-after pill."

"He was indeed a stubborn one!" Amelia had to admit that a man like him was indeed a pain in the ass for women. There was no doubt that he was loyal to only one woman. The moment when he fell for a particular woman, no other women could ever fit into his eyes. No amount of effort and sacrifice by other women could change his mind and feeling for the one he loved.

A glimpse of sorrow flashed across Jessica's eyes. She carried on with what happened after that, "I was struck by his words at that time. A rebellious voice began lingering in my head. I spat the pill out on purpose as soon as he went out. Subsequently, I went to him and demanded for one hundred thousand dollar!" "Wow!"

Jessica sneered, "Wasn't he the one who wished to make everything go with money? What I did was merely going along with his wish! Guess what, he kept his words and deposited a sum of one hundred thousand dollar into my card.

At that very moment, I felt as if my effort all this while had been put to waste. I probably became the gold-digging type of woman again in his eyes.

I told myself that 'let it be¹. I then headed to the largest shopping mall in Northville and binged shopping. I couldn't remember how much I had spent on those luxuries.

When I finally came back to my senses, I realized that most of the things that I bought were men's apparels. I began weeping at that realization. I hated myself that I couldn't him out of my head even when I was revenging on him. I was certain that I would be going crazy if this were to continue!"

At the sight of Jessica's eyes tearing up, Amelia called out her name softly, "Jessica..."

Fortunately, Jessica managed to gather herself together despite on the verge of a breakdown. She continued sobbingly, "It was the very first time I thought of running away from him. I left everything that I bought for him in that apartment and took the midnight train back to the university. I was determined to stay as far away as possible from him! I needed space and time to calm myself down..."

Amelia gave her a tiny nod. Jessica indeed needed to clear her head up at that juncture. After all, the final year of study was critically important. It was needless for her to remind Jessica of that.

"I knew that I was going to face another lifechanging turning point of my life soon. Final examination, internship as well as thesis were piling up and requiring my full focus and attention.

I had no more leisure time to dwell in prolonged sadness and heartbreak. I began to pick up studies where I left of long ago due to relationship problem and commitment to my part-time job."

Glancing at her deeply, Amelia thought for a moment before she commented, "There was no wonder that you spent most of the day time revising in the library. Even when the light in the hostel was off at night, you would rely on a small table lamp to stay up late and study."

Jessica said, "In order to fully concentrate on my study, I resigned from the coffee shop that I worked on part-time basis. Just as I was so caught up with my study, something unexpected happened. My menstruation delayed. To verify my doubt, I did a pregnancy test and found out that I was pregnant."

Amelia was overwhelmed by shock to the extent that she almost spilt the cup of tea that she had been holding all this while. Startling, it took her some time before she finally found her voice, "You were pregnant?!"

She could not believe that Jessica got herself pregnant back then! No one in the hostel knew about her pregnancy!

She could not reconcile any pieces of her memory which suggested that Jessica was seen pregnant. At this point in time, she began wondering if she lost her partial memory that she missed out such an important thing!

Jessica's gaze fell off somewhere when she began to recall, "Holding the pregnancy test paper in my hand, I couldn't help but recall the scene when I spat the morning-after pill out. At that moment, I began to wonder if it was the calling of fate."

"Where's the child?" Amelia could not help asking the question that she concerned the most at this moment.

Jessica's heart skipped a beat before she muttered gloomily, "It was gone."

It seemed like the guy intended for Jessica to give birth to his child.

Jessica continued, "In order to get the best viewpoint, he specially brought me to a seaside holiday resort. We waited earnestly for the sun to rise up from the horizon of the sea.

I was thrilled to the extent that I barely slept that night. He did not sleep either. I was standing next to him when the sun rose up.

I remember the morning breeze brushing off my skin gently. My bare feet were soaked by the tidewater that was rising gradually. A couple of tiny crabs came next to my feet when tidewater rose.

I spontaneously ran into his arms and pretended as if I was afraid of those tiny creatures. I asked him to chase them away flatteringly. He glanced at me softly. I could clearly see the flash of faint smile in his usually cold eyes.

Subsequently, he did something which I had been dreaming about during countless nights. Guess what, he bent over and carried me away in his sturdy arms. As we left the beach, he murmured to me softly, "You don't have to be scared anymore."

Amelia sincerely wished that time froze and their story could stop right at that moment.

Unfortunately, Jessica carried on with her story, "Not wanting to miss the sunrise, I had a sleepless night. By the time the sun rose up, I was dreadfully sleepy. It didn't take me long to fall asleep in his arms. I ended up in a hospital when I woke up. For a moment I came to wonder if time- travel had happened on me." "Eh! A moment ago you were still watching sunrise with him. How could you end up in a hospital in the blink of an eye? Unless..."

Amelia began to wonder if they had met with a car accident during their way back. That was why Jessica ended up having a miscarriage.

Jessica said frowningly, "I was perplexed too. The scenic view of the beautiful beach was so real as if it had just happened a second ago. How could I end up waking up in a ward in the next second? Not only that, my attraction was soon drawn to the painful sensation coming from my lower abdomen. It was as if something had been taken away from my body..."

Amelia thought of the worst possibility.

"Just as I was overwhelmed by confusion, that guy showed up in the ward with two bodyguards following him at his back. I jumped up from bed as soon as I saw him. I asked him why we ended up in a hospital. I'll let you guess what he replied me."

With that said, Jessica glanced in direction of Amelia.

Amelia immediately shook her head.

"You won't be able to guess what he had done to me." Jessica muttered excruciatingly, "He told that the child had been aborted. He even assured me that I needed not to worry about the consequences. He promised that he would keep it as a secret for me and that no one in my university would get to know about anything of this. There was no need for me to worry about my reputation. Ha!"
