Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1613

When Amelia heard what Sierra said on the phone, she was stunned. "Aunt Sierra, I was chatting with Milton like usual. Nothing happened."

"Then how did he end up drinking so much? Could it be that he quarrelled with Maryanne?"

Amelia thought for a moment and replied, "I don't think so. When Maryanne said she wasn't feeling well, Milton immediately said he would send her home. It was clear that he cared about her and didn't seem that they were in a row."

"Then could it be that Maryanne had said something to you that she shouldn't have and caused Milton to be angry with her secretly? And so that was why he was bringing her away ahead of schedule?" Sierra assumed.

"No. Nothing unpleasant happened with Maryanne and me today," returned Amelia. Maryanne had even apologized to her, which was beyond Amelia's expectations.

"That's weird then..." Sierra muttered with a headache, "Amelia, I can't make Milton tell me what happened, and I can't get to Maryanne by calling her. You're Milton's best friend. Can I bother you to come over and talk to him? He always listens to you, you know that..."

"I see..." Glancing at the time, Amelia found that Patrick was coming back soon. "Aunt Sierra, I'll tell you again later, okay?"

Sierra did not insist on Amelia coming, so she said, "Then I'll thank you first."

"It's okay."

After the conversation, Amelia frowned and thought, "Could it be what Patrick and Milton said was what made Milton behave this way?"

At half-past six in the evening.

When Patrick came home from work, he saw Amelia sitting on the sofa with a sullen face, as if she was in deep though about something unpleasant.

Patrick felt nervous from the sight. He took a long stride forward and went to beside her. He then raised his hand to touch the back of Amelia's head as he said in a warm voice, "Amy, I'm back."

Amelia raised her head after gradually realizing his presence. After she saw Patrick's face, she patted the seat next to her and said with a smile, "Mr. Hopper, I have something to ask you."

Patrick followed her gesture and took his seat. His hand that was stroking her hair fell to her waist and held her slightly. "What's the matter?"

Amelia asked with a soft tone, "What did you say to Milton in private today?"

Patrick lifted a brow as he heard her words, and his gaze turned subtle. "What's wrong? Did he complain to you?"

Amelia hurriedly replied, "No, it's Aunt Sierra! She said that after Milton went home, he's been hiding in his room and getting himself drunk. I found it strange, so I asked you."

Patrick then lifted Amelia's chin with his finger and said in a low voice, "Are you condemning me because of him? I didn't ask him to get wasted..."

"Mr. Hopper, can you stop being so jealous out of nowhere?" Amelia was speechless. She had already 'thrown herself at him' and was gentle towards him, so why would he still overthink?

"If you don't want me to be jealous, then don't question me because of him," Patrick replied. Then, he was about to stand up and leave.

Then, Amelia grabbed his collar in reflex.

As a result, Patrick fell onto her, maybe because she had tugged on him too hard.

Amelia was thrown down under his body. She shouted breathlessly, "Mr. Hopper..."

Looking down at the hands that were clutching his collar, Patrick propped himself up and asked with a faint smile, "Amy, what are you trying to do to me? You're being intense."

Amelia's face flushed, and she quickly retracted her hands from his collar. "I'm just... afraid that you're angry, and that's why I held you."

Patrick fixed his eyes at her nervous gaze, and his heart suddenly softened. "I'm not angry."

But Amelia did not miss the stiffness in his voice. "Then why were you leaving?"

Patrick answered with a deadpan expression, "Because I got off work and I'm sweating. I stink, and I don't want it to get on you."

"You... You're lying!" There was not a whiff of body odour from him. Instead, there was only the smell of his fragrance, 'Water of Life'.

"All right!" Patrick lowered his gaze and admitted awkwardly, "I'm, indeed, angry, but just a little bit. I can process this anger myself."

Amelia knew this man was petty and domineering!

But she had also noticed the trace of grievance from his tone.

"Mr. Hopper, you know that Milton and I are just friends." "I know. You two are good childhood friends," responded Patrick sourly.

Amelia looked at him in annoyance for a moment, then she suddenly cupped his handsome face and bit on his thin lips!

Patrick felt like he was electrocuted. So, he decisively bit back!

If Amelia had lost all of her rational thoughts, the couple would have gotten down to it on the sofa.

"Wait a minute, stop... Stop taking it off..." Amelia halted Patrick with her trembling hands and said while blushing.

"Then..." Amelia looked at him nervously. "Will you accompany me later?"

"Of course." Patrick nodded calmly, but his heart sank. From what Amelia had told him, Patrick could easily guess that Milton's abnormality had something to do with Maryanne.

If Milton told Amy about his plan, how would she react to it? Would she find Patrick despicable?

flashed a timely smile and greeted with affection, "Aunt Sierra, Mr. Hopper and I are here to check on Milton."

"Okay. I'm so sorry for troubling you two," replied Sierra. She then got out of the way and invited Amelia and Patrick into the house.

After Amelia changed into a pair of slippers, she asked Sierra, "Aunt Sierra, is Milton still locking himself in his room?"

"Yea," responded Sierra with worry on her expression. "It's been a few hours now, and he's been staying in the room all this while! When I last knocked on the door, there was already no sound from the other side. I bet he's hammered. I was planning to call you and tell you that you don't have to come anymore. But you're a step ahead of me."

"It's fine," Amelia said tenderly. "I'll go and check on him right now. Aunt Sierra, don't worry so much."

Sierra nodded. "AH! Thank you for doing this. Milton won't listen to me right now. He would only..."

Then, Sierra suddenly realized that Patrick was there with them. So, she quickly changed her words and said, "I'm guessing that he's in a quarrel with Maryanne. I have no choice. I'm just an old lady, so I can't intervene in their affairs."

"Aunt Sierra, don't say that." Amelia comforted Sierra before looking sideways at Patrick. "Mr. Hopper, do you want to stay here or come with me?"

"I'll come with you." If Milton went bacchanal later, Patrick could stop him.

When they arrived at the door to Milton's room, Amelia knocked on the door multiple times and called out in a loud voice, "Milton, it's me! Are you asleep yet?"

"Urgh!"

On the other side of the room, Milton was hugging the toilet bowl and throwing up. All of a sudden, the familiar voice of a woman sounded from the door. Instantly, he recognized that it was Amelia.

"Amelia... Amelia..." Milton knelt on the ground with sorrow. He held his head in his hands and muttered her name repeatedly, not knowing what to do.

He could stand in front of Amelia and tell her of his sacrifice and revenge for her with pride. But for some reason, he was not feeling happy at all. Instead, he had the impulse to stuff his head into the toilet bowl!
