"Derrick, didn't you say that we're going back today? You also said that you wanted to take a look at George's condition before going back. How can you..."
Before Rebecca could finish, Derrick roared, "Don't mention George to me!"
Rebecca watched the frustration and anger on Derrick's face, then she could not help but sigh, "Derrick, we're at such an age now. You shouldn't haggle over a little girl, should you?"
"Am I haggling over her? She's the one haggling over me!" Derrick exclaimed as if he was saying a tongue twister. After that, he sped up his pace to leave the hospital.
"Well, let's not care about who's being haggled over. Derrick, why didn't you tell her your feelings just now? Maybe she would've agreed to let us into the ward?" Rebecca asked in confusion.
"You don't understand!" Derrick had already witnessed Amelia's stubbornness. "No matter what I say, she won't change her mind."
Just like the shares concerning Apex Construction Corporation, she was determined to let Derrick take them back. All there was left for her to say was that she did not care about the shares! Humph, since she did not care, Derrick wanted her to have it! The more Derrick thought about it, the more enraged he felt.
"But we're her mother's family. Shouldn't she have a soft spot for us? I remember that when I went to Land of Fragrance to find her, she was polite after hearing that I'm Petty's aunt."
And because of that, Rebecca felt guilty towards the Ramsay family.
Over the years, the Simmons family had turned a blind eye to the Ramsay family, but the Ramsay family had educated Amelia well. At least, after Amelia's identity was revealed, Amelia did not harbour any hatred.
Derrick felt even worse as he heard this. "That's because the one she hates is me! Naturally, she won't show her temper to you!"
"Well..." Rebecca knew that she had made a mistake and changed the subject. "What should we do now? Are we going back just like this? I heard that Amelia and Patrick are getting married on the 20th of next month. Do you think we should find a chance to join it?"
Derrick snorted. "Do you think she'll let us attend?"
Derrick was in Northville, but he did not even receive an invitation. He believed that Amelia did
not send him an invitation on purpose.
"That's why I said we should find a chance to take this opportunity to act. Don't tell me that you don't understand me?" Rebecca asked.
Derrick insisted firmly, "No need! The Simmons family has not yet fallen to the point of sneaking into other's wedding ceremony! We'll go back now! And we won't come to Northville anymore!"
Rebecca secretly exchanged a look with her husband, then she said, "Derrick, I thought about it and found that Amelia had only resisted you. In that case, I should ask her to give me an invitation, isn't that right? I should go on behalf of the Simmons Family and send a gift to Petty's favourite daughter. What do you think?"
Derrick fell silent.
In the blink of an eye, a week passed.
Amelia looked at the calendar and saw that it was the 3rd day of the month. Time was passing by quickly, and she would be marrying Patrick in 17 days.
Her heart filled with infinite hope just at the thought of this. Although she had already gotten a marriage certificate with Patrick and had been invited to attend others' wedding ceremonies, she could not be happier wearing her wedding dress and walking onto the podium.
"Amy." Right then, a pair of long arms wrapped around her waist from behind. Patrick's warm breath sprayed behind her ear, which made the tips of her ear itched slightly.
Staring at her flushed ears, Patrick laughed alluring and kissed her earlobe.
"Hmm..." Amelia could no longer concentrate on the wedding. She fell back into Patrick's arms, and her eyes turned misty. When she looked at the man behind her, she whispered, "Mr. Hopper?"
Patrick had taken advantage when Amelia was staring blankly at the calendar to launch a sneak attack on her. He kissed her fair face while mumbling, "You were smiling so happily just now, which made me a little... unable to hold myself back."
"Really?" Amelia asked. Clearly, she did not notice that she was smiling.
Patrick replied with a hum and turned Amelia to face him. After that, He lowered his lip to kiss her on her pink lips.
After a long while, he let go of her and asked bluntly, "Amy, let's go to bed, okay?"
"Huh?" Amelia refused. "Yesterday night... You just... And it's broad daylight..." She did not want to lay in bed all day.
Patrick suddenly recalled her last protest and said frankly as he heard embarrassment in her tone, "Forget it. Let's do something else then!"
"What do you want to do?" Amelia asked.
"Follow me." Patrick held Amelia's soft hand and led her all the way to the study room.
Amelia looked at him strangely.
Patrick took her to the desk that was sprawled full of all kinds of interior designs, all of which confused Amelia.
Patrick turned to Amelia and asked in a soft voice, "Mrs. Hopper, what do you think about Land of Fragrance?"
Amy?"
Amelia took some time before she answered, "Ah?" Then, Patrick asked with some amusement,
"Is it boring to do this? Do you want to have a rest?"
"No." Amelia put her hand around his arm and put her chin on it. She then looked down at the blueprints pressed under his hand and sighed, "I just didn't expect you to spend so much effort on such trivial things."
"Trivial things?" Patrick put down the pen and said somewhat plaintively, "I've always regarded this as a top priority."
"All right, all right." Amelia could not stand such an expression on his face. So, she leaned in and kissed him on the face. "It's my fault for using that word. But, to be honest, why don't you have the designer come over and discuss it with me? There's no need for you to waste your precious time over this."
After all, even ten of Land of Fragrances could not compare to the business he had to deal with.
Patrick blinked then said from the bottom of his heart, "I want to do everything for you myself. I get more sense of accomplishment from doing this than making money and doing business. Moreover..."
Speaking of this, he deliberately lowered his head and rubbed Amelia's neck with the tip of his nose. "You smell so good. I'm full of energy when I work
next to you."
His words and actions immediately made Amelia's heart pound.
Amelia could not help herself but push him back to his original position. Under his dissatisfied gaze, she tugged her hair behind her hair. Although she pretended to be calm, her slightly trembling fingertips exposed her current mood.
Patrick burst out laughing. When a bright grin showed on his face, Amelia, in spite of shame, unconsciously immersed herself in his joy.
Ding, ding, ding.
Just then, Patrick's phone rang.
He stopped smiling and showed a helpless expression to Amelia. Then, he took his phone out of his pocket.
Amelia was used to him being busy. When he answered the phone, she quietly looked at the design blueprints and did not disturb him.
On the other hand, Patrick's face was calm. But after listening to the content of the call, his expression froze slightly. "What? Yancie's body has been found?"
