Chapter 728
Rachel pursed her lips, stumped. Tyler was truly frightening, observing something as subtle as that.
However, she had already given her answer. She couldn’t take it back.
“I walked a lot in my room just now. I’ve been feeling some discomfort in my back recently.”
Tyler decided not to expose her for now and said deliberately, “I didn’t know you could walk over five thousand steps right in your room. That’s pretty impressive.”
He lounged lazily on the bed, stretching his arm on the headboard and crossing his legs. The collar of his white
shirt hung open, revealing his collarbones.
Rachel’s heart started racing. There was doubt in his eyes, and his tone was laced with playfulness–as though he knew that she was lying, but he was simply sitting back and watching her put on a show.
She was wondering if she should continue lying to Tyler, although it was painfully obvious that he had seen through her.
She decided to come clean.
“I went out, but it’s off hours. What I do during this time is none of your business. You have no right to question me about it. I’m just someone you called over at the last minute to pretend to be your employee. Are you seriously treating me like I’m your employee?”
Rachel sat on the other side of the bed with her back facing Tyler, subconsciously avoiding his searing gaze.
“Why are you hiding from me?” Tyler said, inching closer to her. He chuckled softly, his voice languid. Seeing her not move a muscle, he added, “Afraid that I’ll swallow you whole?”
Rachel jumped up in fright at his proximity. She turned around, slightly panicked.
“I’m not Yale. Why should I be afraid of you?”
“You should know that I can see through anyone who tries to lie to me. So, it’s wiser for you to come clean. Where were you just now?”
He toyed with a lock of her hair, wrapping it around his finger as he hummed leisurely.
Somehow, Rachel felt herself going with his flow, either out of a guilty conscience or because of Tyler’s

Her entire face was flushed, and her heart was beating fast. Did Tyler see her at the bar just now? But she and
Yale were so well–hidden! That couldn’t have been possible.
Rachel looked to be in inner turmoil as she struggled between hesitation and doubt.
In the end, she decided to bite the bullet and tell Tyler the truth. She could always say that she and Yale were worried that he and Anne might get so drunk, they wouldn’t be able to recognize their way back to their hotels.
“You were-
“Anne invited us to a private villa tomorrow. That place has an amazing ambience.”
“She doesn’t want us there. She just wants you there alone,” Rachel said.
The smile on Tyler’s face deepened. “Why do I sense some jealousy in the air?”
Rachel pouted. “Who told you I’m jealous? Stop judging me based on your petty standards!”
Tyler thought about how she had spent a fortune at the bar and couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
“Yes, you’re right, that was exactly what I was doing. Do you want to hear the gossip I overheard at the bar just
now?”
