Chapter 829
Samantha never expected this from William. She looked at him in shock and disbelief. Was this the same man who used to be filled with ambition?
His eyes seemed so hollow–there was nothing in them.
She reached out to touch William’s shoulder.
“William, did you hit yourself in the head or something? What exactly are you thinking? Hasn’t it been agreed that since Tyler has his own company, you should manage the Lewis family business? Now that you know you can’t have children, why are you getting ready to give up your seat to another instead of holding tight to your family’s assets?”
Samantha looked at him like he was a good–for–nothing.
“Or are you actually thinking of giving all the assets away in exchange for Rachel? I don’t think Tyler will give her up even if you let him have them.”
Today, Samantha finally saw it for herself.
Tyler really loved Rachel with all his heart.
Samantha wondered what Rachel did to bewitch both Tyler and William to the point they were so
obsessed with her.
Did she sacrifice any less for William?
At Samantha’s words, William’s face fell. He slammed the bottle on the table and started yelling at
her.
“Are you crazy? Since when was it your place to talk about the Lewis family’s affairs? Scram! One more thing–if Rachel is willing to be with me again, I’ll give her my life, not to mention the Lewis family assets.”
Samantha stumbled a few steps back, shock coloring her face.
“What…what did you say?”
“Did you not understand what I just said? I was at fault for not seeing through you back then. Had I known the kind of person you were, I would never have divorced Rachel! I wouldn’t mind not having a child and adopting one if it meant I could be with her.”
Tears streamed down Samantha’s face; she shot William a look of disappointment before running off along the corridor.
She never expected William to erase her many years of effort over a single mistake!

Yvette and Sasha were both fools who failed to bring Rachel down.
William didn’t bother chasing after Samantha and simply let her leave. He returned to the ward with the bottle in hand, where Thomas and Tyler were still in silence.
William knew how stubborn both of them were–neither was willing to be the first to bow down to
the other.
He placed the bottle on the table and poured a cup of water for Thomas.
“Grandpa, have some water. The doctor said not to get angry or agitated.”
Thomas took a sip of water, put the cup down, and then turned to say to Tyler, “Go back home first.”
Tyler’s cigarette had almost reached its end, and it scalded his fingers. The heat caused him to retract his hand. Ash fell on his leather shoes, but he didn’t seem to notice it. As he stood up, the cold wind blew against the curtains by the bed.
“I’ll come back later.”
His voice was monotonous, and it was hard to tell his mood.
Thomas nodded.
After Tyler left, William said comfortingly, “Grandpa, you’re already advanced in years. Don’t get angry so easily. You know what Tyler is like.”
“Alright. Just take care of your own affairs,” Thomas said, his head throbbing at the thought of the shocking secrets he had heard today.
As for Rachel, she thought the Lewises‘ mess at the funeral was all she had to deal with.
To her surprise, when she returned to the mourning hall after her meal, she spotted Sasha standing before Jim’s photo.
