Chapter 205
Skye’s POV
“Help!” I screamed, my voice cracking with desperation as Adrian’s blood formed a dark pool beneath him on the stone. steps.
Lydia rushed to my side, dropping to her knees beside us. She immediately pressed her hands against Adrian’s chest wound, applying firm pressure where the dagger had pierced him.
“Why won’t the bleeding stop?” she asked, her voice tense with concern. “Alpha’s healing abilities should be much stronger than this. He should be recovering already.”
I shook my head helplessly, tears streaming down my face. My hands trembled as I cradled Adrian’s head in my lap. His skin was growing paler by the second, the warm bronze tone fading to an ashen gray. His breathing came in shallow, ragged gasps that tore at my heart.
“Adrian, please,” I whispered, brushing his dark hair from his forehead. “Stay with me. You can’t do this.” My tears fell onto his face, mixing with the sweat beading on his skin. The metallic scent of blood filled the air around us, making my wolf stir anxiously within me.
The crowd had erupted into chaos. Some people pushed forward, trying to get a better view of the fallen Alpha. Others backed away, whispering frantically among themselves. Several Alphas stood frozen in shock, while others argued loudly about what had just happened.
“Move aside! Medical team coming through!” A commanding voice cut through the noise as Elder Selene appeared with a team of emergency responders carrying a stretcher.
“He needs immediate attention,” Elder Selene said, her face grave as she surveyed Adrian’s condition. “Get him to the medical facility now.”
The medical team worked quickly, gently moving Adrian onto the stretcher. His blood immediately soaked through the white sheets. One of the medics placed an oxygen mask over his face while another started an IV line.
“I’m coming with him,” I said firmly, rising to my feet. My jeans were soaked with Adrian’s blood, but I didn’t care.
Elder Selene nodded once. “Go. Lydia, you should accompany them as well.”
As we followed the medical team carrying Adrian away from the sacred circle, Elder Selene turned back to address the restless crowd. Her powerful voice carried through the night air.
“The ceremony will continue! Please return to your seats.”
The last thing I heard before we rounded the corner was Elder Selene’s announcement: “After completing all trials, I hereby declare Alpha Xavier as the victor of this challenge!”
Applause erupted behind us, followed by cheers and whistles. Under different circumstances, I might have felt disappointed that Adrian hadn’t won But now, none of that mattered. The election, the politics, the power struggles–they all seemed trivial compared to Adrian’s life hanging in the balance.
The medical team rushed Adrian into a building that had been set up as an emergency treatment facility for the election events. They wheeled him straight into a trauma room, and a doctor in scrubs immediately blocked us from following.

Wait out here, he Instructed firmly before disappearing behind the sliding doors
The waiting area was sterile and cold, with uncomfortable plastic chairs lined against plain white walls, Lydia and 1 side by side, both of us silent for several long minutes.
“He’ll be okay, Lydia finally said, placing her hand over mine. Her fingers were still stained with Adrian’s blood. The Council brings in the best doctors for these events. They know how to handle wolf injuries.”
I nodded numbly, unable to form words. My mind kept replaying the moment Adrian collapsed, the way his eyes had locked with mine before his body gave out. What had he been trying to tell me?
“This is all my fault,” I whispered. “If he hadn’t been trying to defend me…”
“Stop,” Lydia squeezed my hand. “Adrian makes his own choices. He knew exactly what he was doing when he picked up that dagger.”
Hours seemed to pass as we waited. Occasionally, medical staff would hurry in or out of the trauma room, but no one stopped to give us updates. The longer we waited, the more my anxiety grew.
Finally, the doctor who had first met us emerged. His scrubs were spotted with blood, and exhaustion lined his face. I jumped to my feet, grabbing his arm before he could speak.
“How is he? Is Adrian awake?” The words tumbled out of me.

The doctor gently removed my hand from his arm and shook his head. “His condition is critical. He’s lost a significant amount of blood, and the wound isn’t healing as it should. Alpha wounds typically close quickly, but this one remains open.”
“Why?” I demanded.
