Crowned by the Man They Feared (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 356

**Broken by Destiny**
**Chapter 356: Two Schemers**

“Whoa there, take a breath. Even if you lose your cool, your precious nephew isn’t going to lose a single hair on his head,” came the calm voice of Regina, who was perched elegantly to the side, her fingers delicately cradling a fine porcelain cup. She took a slow, refined sip of her premium green tea, savoring the rich flavor before seamlessly entering the fray of the conversation.

“Easy for you to say,” Wade shot back, irritation etched across his face. “If this whole mess were yours, you’d understand just how infuriating it is.”

His eyes narrowed as he cast a sideways glare at her, a mix of anger and frustration swirling within him. The tension in his brow was palpable, tightly knitted together, while his jaw clenched in a way that suggested he was barely holding back his temper. The corners of his mouth turned downward, giving him an unmistakably hostile appearance.

This damned woman had all the luck in the world, and now she was handing that man a daughter. Naturally, he would dote on her, keeping a watchful eye, perhaps even being a little more lenient.

Wade couldn’t help but feel a twinge of resentment. Regina’s daughter, though not particularly bright, at least listened and played along with the family’s schemes. Unlike his own son, Maclin—who was as stubborn as a mule and constantly out gallivanting with friends, seemingly oblivious to the family’s expectations.

Maclin had never once followed in Wade’s footsteps; instead, he flitted around like a lost puppy, doing Jeremy’s bidding as if he were some sort of lackey. Wade’s wife, whom he had chosen, had a penchant for gossip and stirring up trouble, but her skills were pitifully inadequate. She could never outmaneuver Whitney, who was always a step ahead.

Just the thought of it made Wade’s irritation bubble to the surface.

“I’m not enjoying myself either, you know. I used to have everything under control. But ever since that little brat Amelia returned, she’s been dragging Gianna down with her!” he exclaimed, frustration lacing his voice.

Regina’s expression darkened at the mention of Amelia’s name, her lips tightening into a thin line. Memories of her years-long schemes to oust Amelia from the Nygard Residence flooded her mind.

Despite Amelia’s return, she had lost her place in the family; that spot had long been claimed by Gianna. It was painfully clear that whether it was Emery or the brothers, they all favored Gianna over Amelia.

Regina couldn’t fathom what kind of luck Amelia had stumbled into. After breaking off her engagement with Vincent and leaving the Nygard Residence, it was as if she had undergone a complete transformation.

She had begun to carry herself like a new person, exuding confidence and determination. In stark contrast, Gianna seemed to have lost her charm; nothing seemed to go her way anymore.

Amelia proved to be resilient. Every time Regina attempted to undermine her, Amelia would slip away, countering Regina’s moves with unexpected strength. Now, Gianna found herself struggling within the Nygard Residence, and Regina’s ambitious plan to seize control of the Nygard Group had become increasingly elusive.

Regina had managed to infiltrate the Nygard Group with her own people, but with Amelia’s arrival, she began to pull them out one by one, jeopardizing everything Regina had worked for. If it hadn’t been for a few powerful allies within the organization shielding Regina, her entire operation would have crumbled by now.

“We need to take them down a notch. If we don’t, they’ll only become bolder,” Regina declared, her voice low and determined.

“Easier said than done. The last hit job was a disaster. They caught on to our plans. The next few attempts didn’t even get close to succeeding,” Wade replied, his voice laced with frustration.

Finding an opening was proving to be a challenge, and any move that was too blatant would draw unwanted attention.
