Curves And Claws: The Lycan King's Relentless Claim novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66

Roana,

“No matter what others say, I will always love you because you are my Rou. There is no replacement for you.”

Alexander’s words sent a swarm of butterflies through my stomach, making me feel giddy. I could not help but blush like a teenage girl falling in love for the first time.

But a chill ran down my spine when everything around me turned foggy. Alexander vanished. My heart sank with fear and confusion before a pair of hands grabbed my neck, pressing me against the cold floor.

My throat closed up, my body shaking violently. I could not understand what was happening until a voice in the distance called my name.

“Roana. What is wrong? Wake up.” The voice was familiar but distant. I could not understand who it was.

“Nurse!” The voice came again. This time, I found myself lying in a pool of blood, warm but terrifying. I could not find Alexander. But the hands were still there.

“Alexander?” I whispered, my voice calm, trying to reach the owner of the hands pinning me down.

“I am not Alexander. Open your eyes. Goddamn it.”

My body flinched, tears streaming down my face. I could not see anything. My throat tightened again, my chest ready to explode until

“Wake up, Roana. Please.” A soft voice whispered right against my lips. “Wake up.”

I did not know why, but I extended my arm toward the voice. Slowly, someone’s face came close to my hand. My fingers traced it. The trimmed beard felt smooth, reminding me of someone.

My eyes snapped open the moment something soft pressed against my lips. A gush of air escaped my chest and a blinding light hit my eyes.

“Her consciousness has returned.” A female voice reached my ears. I looked to the side and found myself in the hospital.

“Roana!” Cassian’s voice came next. My eyes darted to him. He stood next to me, full of concern. His hands framed my face, shaking slightly.

“Good morning.” I grinned, trying to understand what had just happened. Did I dream about that scumbag?

Cassian, who rarely laughed, let out a small chuckle and rested his forehead against mine. My eyes widened in shock, my heart almost leaping out of my chest. Rye purred inside at his unexpected gesture.

“What is wrong?” I whispered, clutching the bedsheets. His scent thickened the air of the room, soothing in a way I did not want to admit.

“Nothing. Are you hurt? Is your jaw okay?” he asked with full concern. His fingertips brushed my earlobe

gently.

I did not understand why he was being clingy. He had practically hated me and ignored me for two days. But I nodded quietly.

“A bit hurt.” I moved my jaw. “I usually heal faster. So it is fine.”

“I am glad.” He sighed, sweat beading on his forehead. “Seems like you can have a whole fried chicken.”

“Damn. Now you reminded me of that.” I tried to sit up but a piercing pain shot through my legs. A painful whimper escaped me. “Ugh.”
