Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 120

Chapter 120

They rarely shared such moments since the two of them had hardly spent any time together. Moreover, Jayson was not a romantic or affectionate person.

Ariel reckoned it was most probably because Nancy did a good job educating Jayson that he turned out to be so considerate now.

She accepted the tissue expressionlessly and was about to turn around. However, Ariel tripped on her foot and fell forward.

“Watch out!”

“Watch out!”

Two voices called out at the same time from her front and back. Simultaneously, two hands caught hold of Ariel’s

arms.

Ariel raised her head and glanced at Jayson and Lucas, who were standing beside her.

Jayson had a calm look in his eyes. His voice had remained steady the entire time.

Lucas turned his eyes to Jayson. His brows arched. “It seems Mr. Larkin is a kind and caring person too.”

Ariel was slightly ruffled by those words. Lucas was indirectly reminding Ariel of Jayson’s indifference to her all along to mock her.

She squirmed free from their grips and said flatly, “Thanks.”

Jayson did not make any further comments to Lucas‘ remarks. He looked down at Ariel and said, “Be careful.”

On the other hand, Janice managed to pull out her phone and capture the moment of those two men preventing Ariel’s fall as it happened.

She tugged at Chad’s sleeve and whispered to him, “You’ve added Nancy as a friend on your social media account, right?”

“What would you like for me to do?” Chad could tell right away that Janice was up to no good.

“Share this photo on your social media account and set it so that only Nancy can see this post. It’s our payback for Ari!”

Janice sent Chad the photo immediately. She put her hands on her waist and snickered. “If she doesn’t have a clear understanding of her position, I’ll help put her in her place instead!”

Chad was struck speechless. He could not help but acknowledge the fact that Janice was good at ticking people off.

Anyway, Chad was not a goody two–shoes. Moreover, he was pretty loyal to his friends.

As for the post, Chad did not just set it so that only Nancy could see it. He also included Matt and Perry in the list of people who could view the post. That way, one of them would surely stumble upon his post.

“Look at how kind I am. I’m making sure all of them have an equal chance to get the scoop,” Chad thought.

Ariel was completely oblivious to what Chad and Janice were up to. She had no time or attention to spare since she had to complete the remaining steps for the ceremony.

At the resort villa, Nancy finally saw Chad’s post when Matt sent it to her.

Nancy had a contemptuous look in her eyes. She said in a gentle voice, “It’s not like I’d be bothered by a photo like this.”

She had no intention of making this a competition. Frankly, Jayson would always prioritize matters relating to Nancy if she ever needed anything from him. It would be pointless regardless of what tricks Ariel tried to pull.

The Walkers decided to hold the ceremony at home instead of visiting the cemetery this year.

Katie had prepared a variety of dishes for their guests. There were enough seats around the table for everyone.

Ariel had planned to discuss the matter of them telling Katie the truth once the ceremony was over with Jayson

first.

While she was looking for him, Ariel found Jayson chatting with Chad.

“I’ve heard that Mr. Carlos will soon lead a team to develop a new flight system. Are there any spots left for people to join for learning and observational purposes?”

Ariel halted. She had a sudden realization.

She finally understood why Jayson had come and acted that way earlier.
