Chapter 153

Even Ariel, who was usually mild–tempered, could not help feeling a bit piqued and shocked by his words. She could not understand why Zach seemed to have a lot of scorn and disdain for her.

“Mr. Quinton, have I somehow offended you previously?” Ariel did not try to steer the topic away. She stared at Zach expressionlessly and asked straightforwardly.

A cold light shone in her eyes. Still, Ariel maintained a steady tone in her voice. She did not lose her temper or yell at him.

Yet, Zach did not think that Ariel was acting this way because of her mild temperament. Instead, he reckoned Ariel dared not argue with him and try to defend herself because she had a guilty conscience.

After all, he had personally witnessed Ariel’s attempt to seduce Jayson.

“No. You and I barely know each other. There’s no way you could’ve offended me.”

Ariel creased her brows. She felt even more confused now as to why Zach had made that absurd, unfounded remark earlier.

Chad’s face darkened. He had always thought Zach was an impressive businessman who was bold and visionary. Furthermore, his family’s elders provided him with great support. Therefore, Chad had always looked upon Zach with favor.

Yet, he never imagined Zach would be so disrespectful and completely disregard Ariel.

“How did you end up having that kind of opinion of Ari then, Mr. Quinton?” The smile on Chad’s face faltered. ” You’re being quite ungentlemanly toward a lady.”

Zach was not just being ungentlemanly. His remarks were outright offensive and deprecating.

Zach furrowed his brows as he watched Chad defend Ariel. He couldn’t understand what was so good about Ariel except for her being pretty. Even someone like Chad was so bewitched by her charm that he had lost his sense of judgment.

“Calm down, Mr. Hockney. Just think of it as me having a slip of the tongue earlier. I wouldn’t want something like that to damage our friendship,”

Zach felt that Chad could not possibly be offended by what he said about a mere assistant. They were both businessmen, and they could potentially profit from working on collaborative projects. They knew what mattered. the most in their line of work.

Zach patted Chad’s shoulder and offered him some advice. “Mr. Hockney, everyone knows how capable you are. People have to survive the harsh competition to secure a position at Faye Tech.

“I think you should reconsider whether those around you are competent enough for their job and whether they are worthy of your trust.”

He felt the need to warn Chad about that sly, greedy side of Ariel. Even after Chad had succumbed to her charms, Ariel still tried to approach Jayson.

Initially, they had planned to involve Vireon in many of Faye Tech’s projects. However, Chad no longer saw the need for that.

Ariel was not someone who would willingly choose to put herself in a difficult situation, nor did she have the desire to please someone who clearly disliked her.

They would soon receive the government’s support for Faye Tech’s projects. Many businesses and companies would be coming to them for collaboration opportunities. Working with Vireon was not a must.

Anyhow, they were already at Vireon’s product launch. Ariel would not let some misunderstanding someone had of her affect her.

She did what she had to do so that she would not leave today’s event having gained nothing. Ariel paid attention in learning all the details regarding Vireon’s new material. She also took note of some important data.

Ariel learned only after the event was over that Jayson had taken Nancy and left the venue early on. It was because he decided to file a police report about that man earlier.

Jayson was going to make sure that the man would be punished for what he did. Although the man had not actually laid his hand on Nancy, Jayson could not forgive him for shaking Nancy up so badly.

According to Vireon’s top executives, Jayson was really serious about it.

Ariel simply paid no mind to what they were saying.
