Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 527

Chapter 527

Nancy didn’t get to exchange and try Jayson’s drink. She had no choice but to raise her glass. As long as it makes you happy, Ms. Pryce.

Cecilia swirled her glass and smiled enigmatically at Nancy, never aking a sip. She had offered to drink with Nancy but clearly wanted her to drink alone.

Nancy could tell that much as well. However, she knew she was in no position to decline Cecilia’s requests. So, she downed the

drink.

Nancy felt like her throat was burning this time. The alcohol was so strong that Nancy’s face flushed scarlet. She could tell the drink she just had was a type of liquor infamous for its high alcoholic content.

Cecilia refilled her glass.

However, Nancy hesitated this time.

What’s the matter? You don’t want to drink anymore?

Nancy pursed her lips. She felt deeply embarrassed since she was being publicly humiliated. All along, she had been cherished and protected. She had never been treated like an escort and forced to drink like this before.

Jayson turned his gaze toward Cecilia and said unhurriedly, Ms. Pryce, you should know when to stop.

Cecilia stared at him, blinking slowly. Ms. Stanton enjoys drinking, and she’s doing this as a form of courtesy to me. This is how we ladies bond. You should stay out of it, Mr. Larkin. The more you try to meddle in this, the more annoying it is for me.

Nancy turned slightly and patted Jayson’s arm gently. It’s alright Jayson. I’m okay with drinking this much.

She beamed, looking quite determined.

Jayson glanced at her and remained silent.

Nancy dropped her gaze and stared at the glass of liquor. Eventually, she finished it in one gulp.

On the other hand, Cecilia was thoroughly enjoying this game. She refilled Nancy’s glass three more times.

Some of the guests felt bad for Nancy as they watched what was happening. They were more or less aware of Cecilia’s temperament. She could be quite difficult sometimes.

Cecilia was often quite vicious and unrestrained in the way she did things. Nothing good would come from getting on her wrong

side.

Samson cast a glance at Cecilia. The two of them hadn’t spoken to ach other ever since they sat in those seats.

Some time later, Cecilia handed Ariel a new drink.

Ariel tried smelling it and realized it was grape juice.

The drink tasted sweet and slightly bitter. Ariel felt a bit lightheaded after taking a sip. She didn’t really like it.

She put the drink down after taking a few sips. Then, Ariel decided to drink the pineapple juice instead.

What Ariel couldn’t understand was why Jayson hadn’t firmly objected to Nancy being forced to down all those drinks. If he did, Cecilia would have held back a little.

As she lifted her gaze, Ariel happened to meet Jayson’s eyes.

He sat there in a relaxed manner and stared at Ariel. A brief moment later, he raised his brows nonchalantly.

It was as though he was asking Ariel what was wrong.

Ariel immediately averted her gaze and frowned slightly.

Meanwhile, Frederick could see that Cecilia was deliberately giving Nancy a hard time. His expression turned grim.

Yet, he knew that he would only be adding fuel to the flame if he were to mindlessly interfere now.
