The ringing in Nancy’s ears made it hard for her to think. She couldn’t understand how she had once again found herself in a hopeless situation.

It was as though every incident that had happened so far had been calculated and meticulously premeditated so that Nancy would fall right into their trap.

Nancy wouldn’t be able to do anything as she was met with her downfall. Any attempts at self- preservation would be pointless.

“We hope you’ll cooperate with us, Ms. Stanton.” The man placed the court’s notice on the table. “The deadline for when you are expected to fulfill your obligations is stated here in detail. If you refuse to cooperate, we’ll have to get you forcibly evicted from this property later on.”

These men came here to notify Nancy about the seizure of her property and to take care of the relevant procedures. (1

The property was thereby restricted from being put up for sale or used as collateral for a mortgage. This way, they could effectively prevent the debtor from secretly selling the property to another party.

Nancy had even lost her last resort. It shattered the last bit of hope she had been holding onto in her

heart.

She plopped down on the couch, consumed by despair and powerlessness.

Nancy couldn’t possibly not see it at this point. Since the beginning, she was nothing but a simple being that Jayson could easily crush under his feet.

She broke out in cold sweat thinking about how frighteningly smart and calculating Jayson was.

She felt as though she was about to suffocate. The feeling was so horrible that Nancy felt like she was

driven to the brink of having a breakdown.

The group of men was here to notify the Stantons about the seizure of their property. It did not concern

them what the Stantons had done to lead to this. Soon enough, they left the place.

A heavy silence lingered in the air. The only sound they could hear was the pitter–patter of the rain coming from outside, which felt ironically fitting for their current situation. The two of them were in a pitiful state.

Sarah eventually came to her senses. She darted toward Nancy. “Have you talked to Jayson? Why has he suddenly requested a property repossession? Is he…”

She couldn’t bring herself to voice her suspicions. Sarah felt gripped by a sense of fear.

Nancy’s eyes were red. Several strands of hair were stuck to her cheeks. She had lost her usual radiance

Nancy understood why Perry and the others had refused to help her. Most enterprises sought to maintain a positive relationship with a successful company like Bluum Corp.

“We’re screwed…” Nancy’s mouth went dry. “Jayson won’t bother about what happens to us anymore. He never really wanted to help me. This time… we’re completely screwed.” 2

Jayson even accurately predicted that she would sell the house right away to secure some funds.

His timing was impeccable. He made sure that Nancy would witness everything she had wanted crumble and fall apart bit by bit before her.

Nancy was forced to witness her own fall from grace. That was the worst kind of torment one could put

someone through mentally.

Regardless of what the reason might be, whether Jayson had forsaken Nancy out of personal interest or he had, for certain reasons, decided to trample all over her, Jayson was slowly showing that scary side of

him.

Yet, he remained completely aloof and nonchalant about it. Jayson easily had Nancy under his thumb.
