Chapter 641
“I don’t really understand what the report says. We’ll have to see a doctor and ask for a clearer explanation.” Janice wasn’t familiar with the medical jargon.
Liam turned his head and said in a calm voice, “What’s the report about? I can take a look at it.”
Janice had met Liam before. She frowned slightly. “You’re Ari’s…”
“I’m Ms. Walker’s attending physician.” Liam met her gaze and held out his hand.
The comers of Janice’s mouth twitched. Then, she placed the report in his hand.
Ariel looked at him nervously. “What does it say?”
Liam scanned the report, then shifted his gaze to Ariel. He seemed slightly surprised. “You’re 11 weeks
pregnant.”
Ariel’s heart skipped a beat. Her face was filled with bewilderment. For a moment, she struggled to process her thoughts as a rush of complicated emotions surged through her.
Janice asked, “How is this even possible? Can her body cope with the pregnancy in her current condition?
Liam had a grim look on his face. “Frankly speaking, it’s difficult to conceive in your current state. The chances were very low, which makes your case unusual.”
Ariel’s breathing grew heavy and uneven. She forced herself to calm down and looked at Liam. “Then, the
child…”
“You can’t keep it.”
There was zero hesitation in Liam’s voice. He could tell Ariel already knew the answer.
The light in Ariel’s eyes dimmed.
Liam’s tone softened slightly as he took in Ariel’s ashen face. “To begin with, you’re already in poor health. If you keep the baby, you’ll have to stop all treatments aimed at eradicating the cancer cells for at
least ten months.
“If that happens, the cancer may spread to other parts of your body. Giving up the pregnancy is the only way for you to survive.”
The reality was harsh, but Ariel had no choice but to face it.
Liam knew most expectant mothers formed strong emotional attachments to their unborn child due to the influence of hormones. They would naturally feel devastated about ending a pregnancy.

But Ariel’s case was different. She had no other option.
If she chose to keep the baby, all cancer treatments would have to be put on hold.
Janice’s face turned pale. She wrapped her arms around Ariel and asked, “Is there really no other way?”
She knew how much Ariel had longed for a child over the years. And now..
Liam pressed his lips together. “Ms. Walker, you’ve already postponed your treatment twice because of work. You can’t do that anymore. If you really wish to have a child, there might still be a chance once you’re completely cured of your cancer.”
Still, Liam knew the truth. Ariel was battling endometrial cancer, and the treatments she needed would
severely damage her body.
Her body would endure drastic changes depending on the medication and surgeries required.
Recovery would be a lengthy process. Moreover, no one could say for sure if Ariel would be able to achieve full recovery.
Ariel understood what Liam was saying. She had known from the start that she couldn’t keep the baby.
What she had once wanted most now threatened her very life. The blow was so devastating she felt she
might collapse.
Janice’s eyes stung. “The baby’s father is…”
