Ariel guessed those calls might have something to do with Morgan as well.
She grabbed Kate's phone, blocked his number, and said, "Grandma, don't pick up any unknown calls from now on. The Sanderson family might be in some trouble lately. We're staying out of it."
Kate didn't know the details, but she trusted Ariel and nodded.
Ariel herself didn't know the full situation with the Sandersons either, but if Jayson was involved, it probably wasn't a minor issue.
She got up to go outside for some fresh air. Just as she reached the door, her phone rang. It was Janice calling.
Janice's excitement was practically audible through the line. "I just heard some gossip! It's totally insane!"
Ariel looked up at the clear autumn sky and tugged her collar closer. "What is it?"
"Cecilia's in big trouble! I heard this from my friend. She's apparently been forcibly sent to a rehab facility, and she's going to be in there for a long time! Can you believe it? You said she's the daughter of some top big shot, right? She's supposed to be untouchable, and yet she ends up like this!"
Talking about this, Janice felt a surge of satisfaction.
Cecilia had caused all sorts of trouble, yet she tried to smear Ariel publicly at Betty's birthday party.
Now, karma had come calling.
Ariel knew that Jayson had probably orchestrated the whole thing. Getting Cecilia into this situation was no small feat.
It was, in a way, revenge for her poor baby.
However, Jayson hadn't told her of any of this.
Under normal circumstances, there was no way to punish someone like Cecilia.
Yet somehow, Jayson managed to have her sent straight to a rehabilitation facility—a place far more terrifying than prison. She was in for a tough time.
"Serves her right!" Janice muttered.
Ariel remembered something. "Chad said you haven't been to Faye Tech for the past two days. Is something up?"
Jayson had handled such a huge matter without telling her, and now he seemed to have vanished completely.
Just then, she saw a pair of long legs in front of her. Her brow twitched as she looked up and saw Lucas.
He stared at her deeply. "Ari, Wendy and I are done."
They were completely done.
Ever since Jayson had revealed the truth to him last time, he hadn't planned to let the Johnstone or Sanderson families off the hook.
Ariel could almost read what he meant. She instinctively stepped back.
The movement seemed to hurt Lucas, and his voice went hoarse. "I'm sorry. I've wronged you. If Wendy hadn't lied to me, I would never have treated you like that. Ari, can you forgive me?"
He wanted to go back to the time when Ariel had relied on him completely.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson)
Can you give me more chapters? I was hoping for a happy ending with Ariel and Jayson. Janice with Wade, and if not, put her with Chad, Matt, or even Liam....
Nice and amazing story with gripping turns, but can you give more chapters? And please we need more romance as readers, it has been dragging on a lot, maybe romance, happy ending and end it soon....
