Chapter 77
Ariel raised her brows. “A business trip?”
“We’re going there for the Aerospace Technology Convention that’s held biennially in Halread. Numerous local and foreign experts will be attending the convention. We’ll see a lot of investors there too. So? Are you interested now?” Chad smirked.
Ariel knew that the convention had been held in Halread every two years for the past decade. It was deemed one of the most important events for the people in their industry.
Top engineers and technical staff from their country and around the world were invited to attend this convention, so that everyone could exchange skills and knowledge. It was a rare and precious opportunity.
“I think my dad will be there too. You should use the opportunity to talk to him. Ask Jan to help you pick out a dress today or tomorrow. Our company will cover the expenses,” Chad declared confidently.
His words seemed to have gotten rid of all of Janice’s negative emotions and frustrations. “Roger that! You can relax and leave the job to me. I’ll make sure you get a stunning partner for the event, Mr. Hockney!”
Janice turned the car around and headed for the largest mall right away.
She went around and checked out several shops. To her disappointment, the most expensive dress she could find in the mall cost less than a million dollars. Janice found the options there lacking.
After spending two hours on the task, Janice eventually decided to have Ariel wear the dress she had recently received from overseas. She immediately made a phone call and had someone deliver the dress to them.
It was a light purple mermaid dress. The fabric was light and silky, like the wings of an insect. The cutting around the waist perfectly accentuated the wearer’s curves.
The dress looked even more dazzling and magnificent under the lights. It was an exquisite dress despite not being heavily embellished. A lot of work had been put into its cutting and design.
“The dress suits you so much! You should wear it. You’ll become the most beautiful, eye–catching lady during the event!” Janice was extremely satisfied with her choice.
Ariel knew that Janice meant it sincerely, so she did not refuse the offer.
Laura had helped Chad and Ariel make reservations for their rooms at a hotel for their business trip in Halread.
Ariel was packing her things when she found the lucky charm she received from Marie in her pocket. After a short pause, she placed the charm in a far corner of a cupboard and decided to ignore it.
Ariel and Chad took a flight to Halread the day before the convention.
It was Ariel’s first time visiting Halread. They were staying at a five–star hotel. Chad and Ariel proceeded to check in when they got there.
Ariel pursed her lips. It quickly dawned on her that someone like Jayson must have been invited to attend the convention as a guest of honor.
Jayson merely cast a glance in Ariel’s direction when he noticed her. He seemed neither flustered nor surprised.
He said with a nod toward Chad, “Mr. Hockney, would you like to join us for dinner this evening?”
With an apologetic look on his face, Chad replied, “I have another appointment this evening. Perhaps we can do that tomorrow. I might be able to make it then.”
Jayson nodded. Then, he excused himself and led the others to the elevator. Jayson did not speak to Ariel at all. As usual, they treated each other like complete strangers.
Jayson’s group got into the elevator.
Frederick knew who Ariel was. He furrowed his brows.
“What’s going on between Mr. Hockney and Ariel? He gave such a precious opportunity to a mere assistant. Isn’t it too much even if he’s trying to help her attend the convention by the back door? Could the two of them really be in a relationship?”
