At that very moment, someone knocked on the door.

The staff who came back with Ariel's meal opened the door and found the couple in an intimate moment. Jayson immediately stopped what he was doing, interrupted by the sudden intrusion.

The person at the door was a lady carrying a tray with chilled wine. She could clearly sense the subtle tension in the room. Smiling apologetically, she said, "Pardon my intrusion. I've brought you some wine. I'm sure you two will enjoy an even lovelier time together with a few drinks."

It was obvious she was used to seeing affectionate couples—she even winked playfully at Ariel.

After setting the wine on the table, she turned and left.

Ariel recognized her. The woman looked kind and friendly, but in truth, she was one of their bodyguards—and a highly skilled one at that.

Jayson's face darkened slightly at the interruption. He made no effort to hide his displeasure. The woman, however, merely smiled and left after completing her task.

The pleasant atmosphere from moments ago was gone. A small frown appeared between Jayson's brows.

While he was still lost in thought, Ariel smiled softly and leaned forward. Placing her left hand against his cheek, she planted a gentle kiss on the corner of his lips to cheer him up.

Jayson pressed his cheek into her palm, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly after receiving her kiss.

Afterward, Ariel said innocently, "I'm feeling a bit sleepy. I haven't had enough rest these past few days."

She really hadn't slept much since Samson took her away. During that time, she had been constantly tense and on edge. Now that she could finally relax, drowsiness began to wash over her.

Feeling sorry for her, Jayson pulled her into his arms. "Go ahead and sleep. I'll wake you up when we arrive."

Even though he wanted to be closer to her, Jayson couldn't bring himself to do anything when she looked so exhausted.

Ariel initially intended to lie down a little further away, but Jayson showed no signs of letting her go. He wrapped his arms tightly around her, even pressing one leg over both of hers.

Too tired to protest, Ariel simply let him use her as his bolster. She closed her eyes and drifted into a deep sleep. Truth be told, it felt quite nice resting like that.
