The photographer edited and printed the best wedding picture on the spot, handing each of them a copy.
Ariel glanced at it.
They were sitting side by side. Jayson's expression wasn't the cold, distant one she had imagined. He actually looked quite relaxed.
Looking up, she saw Jayson slip the wedding picture into his pocket and glance at her. "The marital home isn't fully renovated yet. Can we stay at my other place for now?"
Ariel immediately nodded. "Sure."
Jayson opened the car door to get in when his phone rang. It was a work emergency.
As he answered, he looked at Ariel. "Go ahead first. Pack your things and move them to my place. I've got some things to take care of."
Without giving Ariel a chance to ask questions, he shut the door.
Ariel's words got stuck in her throat. She hadn't expected they would have to live together.
She had assumed that Jayson wouldn't go so far. At most, they would be a surface-level couple, living separate lives in private. After all, he didn't seem exactly pleased with her.
Toby said, "Mrs. Larkin, I'll take you to pack your things. If there's a lot, I can arrange for someone to do it for you so you don't have to worry."
Ariel felt as if everything had already been arranged. After some hesitation, she shook her head. "There's no need for that. I don't have much. Just some clothes and books."
Back at Sanderson Manor, she hardly had a place to call her own. After moving out for college, she had lived simply, so she really didn't have much stuff.
Toby stepped on the accelerator, and the car drove off.
Jayson watched it leave. Soon, another car arrived to pick him up. He headed straight to the office for an urgent meeting.
In the conference room, discussions continued relentlessly.
Jayson leaned back in his chair, but the wedding picture in his pocket kept drawing his attention.
He lowered his eyes, retrieved it from under the table, and looked at the photo of himself with Ariel. A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
His mind wandered for the first time in a meeting.
He took out his phone and snapped a picture of the wedding picture. Almost instinctively, he started composing a post for his social feed. "I'm married."

The readers' comments on the novel: Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson)
Can you give me more chapters? I was hoping for a happy ending with Ariel and Jayson. Janice with Wade, and if not, put her with Chad, Matt, or even Liam....
Nice and amazing story with gripping turns, but can you give more chapters? And please we need more romance as readers, it has been dragging on a lot, maybe romance, happy ending and end it soon....
