Ariel thought it would take her a long time to adjust, but it wasn't as hard as she had imagined.

Jayson hadn't been harsh with her. He was calmer than she expected. She had assumed he would be furious at both the Sandersons and her.

Yet, the days since their marriage had passed peacefully.

Most importantly, Jayson seemed very much a homebody. He would return home every day.

But instead of going to the study, he would work in the living room. Ariel couldn't make sense of it at first. Did Jayson have that much work? Why didn't he finish it at the office? Why bring it home?

So whenever she left the bedroom—for water, watering plants, or small chores—she would inevitably see him.

Eventually, Ariel grew curious about her new husband.

She poured herself a glass of water, preparing to return to her room.

"Going to sleep?" Jayson asked suddenly, glancing at her.

Ariel nodded.

He maintained his usual calm expression but internally noted how distant Ariel was.

He had been sitting openly in the living room for days, yet she hadn't made any effort to communicate.

Jayson tilted his chin toward her. "Want to talk?"

Ariel tensed. She feared he might bring up divorce.

Morgan still hadn't given her a definite answer. If she was dumped so quickly, there was no way Morgan would follow through on what he had promised.

She gripped her glass and walked over.

As she approached, the man on the couch raised a hand and passed her a black card.

Ariel looked at him, puzzled.

Jayson met her gaze calmly. "The renovation of the marital home will cost quite a lot. If there's a style you like, you can tell the designer yourself. Use only top-quality materials."

Ariel blinked. "We're not talking divorce?"
