Jayson was quiet for a long while.

Ariel had no idea what he was thinking, but she noticed the car was going smoother and faster.

The silence inside the car was so heavy she started wondering if he was angry.

They kept on like that until they finally reached a rest stop.

The moment the car stopped, Ariel was the first to get out.

But before she had taken two steps, Jayson grabbed the hood of her jacket and pulled her back.

She barely had time to turn before he pressed her against the car door.

He hooked a finger under her chin and leaned in. The faint scent of him wrapped around her. Without warning, his lips parted and captured hers. He held down her hands and intertwined their fingers tightly. His kiss was fierce.

Ariel froze for a moment. Her mind went blank, but her body reacted instinctively. Her lips returned the kiss.

"What are you doing?" she asked, bewildered.

"Weren't you the one who seduced me first?" he countered casually without loosening his grip on her hand.

Ariel was caught off guard by his comeback. "When?"

"Half an hour ago. In the car. Right corner of my mouth."

"You asked for it."

He casually slipped one hand into his pocket and said unapologetically, "I was just joking. You sure know how to use it to your advantage."

Ariel was speechless.

Jayson wasn't about to waste words on this. Having gotten what he wanted, he simply pulled her toward the rest stop.

Reluctantly, Ariel followed. She glanced down at their intertwined fingers, which were fitting perfectly together.

This was a kind of intimacy she had never experienced before, like the actions of close lovers, so natural and yet so deeply moving.
