Chapter 65
Lucien walked right up to her bedside, yet Calista’s expression didn’t waver in the slightest.
She glanced at him, then slowly began unbuttoning her clothes. Soon, her fair skin was laid bare.
“Calista!”
Lucien hadn’t expected her to go this far. His long, slender fingers clamped tightly onto her shoulder.
“Do you know what you’re doing?” Seeing her undress herself with such ease, Lucien’s eyes darkened.
“Aren’t you here for that? Oh, right. Apart from satisfying your sexual needs, I still have to help you take care of your lover, don’t I? But I’m not feeling well today, so I won’t be helping you take care of Ophelia.”
Calista spoke bluntly, causing Lucien’s face to darken in response.
He didn’t let her go. In fact, his grip only tightened, as if he wanted to pull her into his arms. Perhaps only then would Calista learn her
lesson.
“Calista, I’m giving you one last chance. Watch what you say.”
Lucien
Lucien lowered his gaze, yet the coldness radiating off him was unmistakable.
“But that’s all I have to say. If you don’t like it, then feel free to divorce me,” Calista said with an emotionless expression.
Hearing her say such hurtful words in such a casual tone, an indescribable feeling welled up in Lucien’s chest.
The quiet room suddenly echoed with the sound of Calista’s bitter laugh. If Lucien really was the person who harmed her child, then everything would be much easier to deal with.
just like that, a few days went by.
Perhaps Calista had truly angered Lucien that day, because she hadn’t seen him since.
The only news she heard about him was through the nurses‘ gossip.
They said that Lucien wasn’t just rich and attentive. He was also extremely devoted. He’d spend at least four days a week in the ward, and even on the days he didn’t visit, he would still send flowers and gifts. His thoughtfulness was truly enough to make anyone swoon.
When the elderly ladies in the ward heard about the gossip, they couldn’t help but express their envy. They were convinced that he was the kind of devoted lover who only appeared in fairy tales.
Calista lay on her bed, listening to their conversation with an impassive expression.
