Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 116

Even on their wedding day, when he deliberately tore her gown and forced her to walk through the ceremony in a simple dress, she’d only blinked back tears and whispered, “It’s alright, darling.”

A pang tightened Darren’s chest.

He shouldn’t be thinking about Charlotte at a time like this...

But where was that woman? Why hadn’t she shown up yet?

A restless irritation welled up inside him.

As he brooded, a sleek black limousine pulled up at the gates of the estate.

A tall, elegant woman stepped out, exuding both grace and authority. Her gaze swept over the perfectly matched couple before her, and a teasing smile played on her lips. “Well, well, little brother. The new head of the family waiting at the door in person? Am I really that important?”

Darren caught the barbed undertone in her words and replied coolly, “I thought you’d be too busy to make it.”

Lena’s eyes twinkled with dry amusement. “I skipped your first wedding, but if I missed your second, it’d be an insult to the man of the house.”

With that, her attention slid to Xena, who stood by Darren’s side, feigning shyness. “Hello,” Xena greeted softly.

Lena arched a brow, her tone openly mocking. “No need to pretend we’re old friends.”

The smile froze on Xena’s face.

Darren’s expression turned frosty. “Xena’s sensitive. Don’t tease her.”

Lena looked him up and down, genuinely surprised. “Did I hear that right? You’re actually defending a woman?”

Darren’s face shifted ever so slightly.

Suddenly, a memory surged up from the past...

Four years ago, Lena had vied with him for control of the Harrington Group. When she lost, she moved overseas. He and Charlotte had accompanied her to the airport. Charlotte had worn a pink dress that Lena absolutely despised, and right there in front of him, Lena had slapped her hard across the face, calling it a “lesson in manners.”

Charlotte’s eyes had brimmed with hurt, but Darren had only looked away, cold and indifferent.

He should have forgotten those trivial “incidents” long ago.

But now they flashed through his mind in vivid detail, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth.

Xena’s face drained of color.

Darren tightened his arm around her waist, murmuring reassurance. “Don’t mind him, he’s just talking.”

Mr. Harrington turned away from them, leaning on his cane as he strode into the manor and took his seat at the head of the front row.

Guests, sensing the signal, began filing in and taking their places.

As Darren passed the rows of seats, he swept his gaze over the crowd once more.

Still no sign of Charlotte.

She actually dared to hide—acting as if his words meant nothing?

Or maybe she still refused to accept her place, still foolishly dreaming of challenging Xena for the title?

Darren pulled out his phone and sent a terse message to his assistant: “Get the private investigator on it. I want to know where Charlotte is—ten minutes, no more.”
