Delete My Love for You novel Chapter 32

“Divorce?”

Darren leaned in, his rough, smoky voice brushing her lips. “We’re still in the cooling-off period. I can still claim you as my wife—legally and otherwise.”

The words snapped something inside Charlotte.

Just hours ago, he’d flown a drone over the city, broadcasting his grand confession of love to Xena—twelve years of secret longing, all poured out for everyone to see. It was the kind of romance people dreamed about.

And now, in the middle of the night, he’d barged into her apartment to torment her.

“Darren, you’re shameless, you—”

Before she could finish, his mouth smothered her words.

They’d been married three years. She’d tried to seduce him, over and over, and he knew every spot that made her shiver. Under his reckless touch, her body burned, trembling in spite of herself.

“No… Darren… don’t…”

Her whispered pleas only made him more relentless.

He bit lightly at her flushed earlobe, his breath ragged. “Charlotte… don’t leave…”

But in the darkness, as he called her “Xena” again and again, shameful tears slid silently down Charlotte’s cheeks.

The night dissolved into chaos.

She didn’t know when Darren left. When she awoke, all she saw was the mess—her underwear on the floor, the strap of her nightgown torn straight through.

Everything was in ruins. She couldn’t stop replaying how he’d used her, mistaking her for Xena, humiliating her again and again.

Charlotte clenched her fists, her lips twisting in bitterness. “Darren, after today, I won’t let your cruelty hurt me ever again. Not for a single second.”

Her phone chimed. It was Herbert: [Charlotte, did you sleep well? The team at the lab is ready. We can start the operation whenever you’re here.]

She replied, ignoring the ache in her body: [I’ll be there soon.]

She got dressed and called a cab. “Astra R&D Center, please.”

As soon as she gave the address, Charlotte slumped back, exhaustion overwhelming her. She was on the verge of sleep when suddenly, the car door was yanked open from outside.

A harsh voice barked, “You Charlotte?!”

The thug sneered, “No problem, Mr. Harrington. But here’s the thing—I’ve got your lover, and your wife. Your money only buys back one. Who’s it going to be?”

He shoved the phone in Xena’s face.

Xena was already sobbing. “Mr. Harrington! Please, help me! I don’t want to die—please!”

“Xena, don’t be scared. I won’t let anything happen to you!” Darren’s voice was tense, protective.

The thug grinned. “Not so fast. Your wife gets a turn too.”

The phone was thrust in front of Charlotte.

She lowered her eyes, numb. Even if she were the only one here, she knew he wouldn’t save her. And now, with Xena beside her, what hope did she have?

She didn’t want to humiliate herself by begging. “Darren, I—”

Before she could finish, a child’s voice burst out on the other end, wailing:

“Daddy, don’t worry about Charlotte! Hurry up and save Xena!”
