“Dmitri” I said simply, my voice cool and controlled, offering a terse reply to his unspoken question.
“What are you doing here, Elena?” He frowned. Then, his brow furrowed further in realization. “Aren’t you suppose internship?” He asked, and I wanted to scoff out loud.
“I’m here because I wanted to join the party. Dmitri Why? Am I not invited to your little soir?

I don’t think I had ever acted with such brazenness in our entire relationship. I had always been the more reserved, the more cautious one.
Then he frowned, a hint of annoyance creeping into his expression. “Weren’t you the one who told me, quite clearly I might add, to stay the hell away from you. Elena?” He said, and I could tell he was making a conscious effort to push down his rising anger. I offered him a sweet, inuocere smile in retur Then, his gaze flicked back to Melle, lingering on her, and he stiffened, his initial confusion hardening into suspicion.
He moved closer, his eyes narrowing, his posture becoming subtly aggressive. “You what’re you doing here?” He asked, his voice laced with a barely concealed hostility, it was only when he moved closer that the distinct smell of alcohol watted off him, stronger than i had initially noticed. Although, niko what I might have expected from his usual drunken antics, he didn’t visibly appear too ineducated, his movements still relatively coordinated
I patted Mulle’s hand reassuringly, offering a silent gesture of support. I then gently pushed her slightly to the side, positioning myself directly between her and Dmitri. I moved forward, reaching out to grab Dmitri’s arm, my fingers digging into his flesh. Thankfully, with it becoming obvious to the other partygoers around the pool that there wasn’t a fight about to break out, most of them started to reburn to their own conversations and activities, albeit with a noticeable increase in hushed whispers and furtive glances in our direction.

Maybe it hadn’t even been a single isolated incident, but a pattern of betrayal that I had been too naive or too trusting to ever uncovýr.

We made our way through the crowded house, heading towards one of the smaller, less frequented side rooms, I could sense Mieties presence jun behind us, opened the door to the room, a small study with heavy velvet curtains drawn against the night, pulled Dmitri inside, and then immediately let go of his arm. “What the hell are you doing, Elena?” He asked, his eyes darting nervously from me to the locked door, then back to Melle, who stood huddled near the wall, he gaze fixed on the floor. I simply raised an eyebrow, a silent question in return,
“Trying to get you alone, Dimitri,” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “Is it really not obvious yet?”
“What is this about, Elena” Davitri asked, taking a step closer, his Initial confusion hardening into suspicion. I held up a hand, palm out, effectively stopping him in his tracks, I couldn’t conceal my disgust airy longer.
“This, Dmitri, sneered, my voice low and dangerous, “is about you once again fucking things up for other people” He paused, his steps laltering, and then his gaze narrowed, settling on Mielle, a flicker of recognition in his eyes. “is this about what happened at Lazar’s party? Didn’t we already decideit was just a spur of the moment thing? None of us told anyone what happened, Mielle,” he added, his tone condescending, as if he had done her some great favor by keeping her trauma a secret. I scoffed, the sound bitter and humorless.
““We decided?” I repeated, my voice incredulous. “Who exactly is the “we you’re referring to Dmitri? Because I can assure you, Mielle here sure as hell didn’t think it was just a ‘spur–of-the–moment thing”
He stopped forward again, his anger beginning to surface, and I didn’t back down, pushing firmly against his chest to keep him physically separated from
“You weren’t even there, Elenal We were all drunk! it happens at parties. Why are you making such a big deal out of absolutely nothing, huh?” He questioned, his doce rising in frustration, and I heard Mielle behind me let out a small, choked sniffle.
“It is a big deal, Dmitri,” she said, her voice barely a whisper, but filled with a profound sadness and a quiet strength that made my heart clench.
Dmitri scoffed dismissively. “So what? You lost your virginity? What do you want me to do, Mille? Marry you?” He asked, the words dripping with cruel indifference. I wanted to punch him, to wipe that smug look off his face, but I forced myself to remain somewhat composed, at least for a few more
moments.
Clenching my fists to keep myself from lashing out physically, I grabbed the collar of his open still wet shirt, pulling him closer so that our faces were inches apart. “Who else was there that night besides you and Larar, Dmitri?” I asked, my voice low and menacing. He frowned, trying to pull away. “Why the hell does it even matter, Elena?!”
