"Attlee, what are you spacing out for? Raise the sign, quick!"
Before Attlee even got a chance to react, Olga and Yolanda had grabbed his hand and raised the sign for him.
The auctioneer exclaimed in surprise, "1.2 billion dollars! It’s the same gentleman again! Bidding 1.2 billion dollars! Any higher bidders? Anyone?"
Attlee snapped back to reality and, along with Olga and Yolanda, scanned the room anxiously. To their surprise, no one else was bidding! Even the McMillan Corporation had given up!
"Who would dare to go against the McMillan Corporation? This is unbelievable."
"The thing is, it looks like they’re about to win."
"LY, the Collins group, and McMillan Corporation all gave up. This group is insane. What’s their name? They managed to hang in there till the end."
"1.2 billion for the first time."
"1.2 billion for the second time."
"1.2 billion for the third time. Sold!"
The auctioneer quickly banged the gavel, announcing with an ecstatic voice, "Let’s give a big round of applause to the gentleman at the back who’s successfully won the land bid! I hereby declare the auction a success! Could the gentleman please come forward? We need to sign the contract."
"We did it; we’ve won!" Yolanda cried out, feeling a bit dreamlike, and hugged her mother tightly.
Tears welled up in Olga’s eyes. "We actually won! We beat LY, the Collins Group, and McMillan Corporation! We got the land!"
Was she dreaming? This felt too surreal!
"Attlee!" Olga couldn’t resist hugging Attlee. The family of three hugged together.
Attlee had never felt so proud before. These were all top–tier international corporations, yet he managed to beat them and win the land!
"Calm down, calm down. Let me go pay." Attlee hugged the two women and then stood up.
On his way, several people from other corporations initiated greetings, and he responded with a polite smile, as if he had always been a successful man.
All the humiliation was behind them!
"Hmph, what’s so great about that? They just got something the Collins group didn’t want, right, Mrs. Collins?"
"They’re so happy about winning a piece of land. Mrs. Collins must’ve gotten so many better ones when she was younger!"
"They’re such country bumpkins. Mrs. Collins, they only got this land because you didn’t want it. If the Collins group really wanted it, they wouldn’t have stood a chance!"
"Exactly!"
Several rich ladies were flattering Louisa. Louisa smiled and said, "I’m glad they won it."
She was initially worried that they wouldn’t dare to bid! Now that they were close to failure, of course, Louisa was happy.
The ladies thought Louisa was being modest and started to kiss up even more.
"Look at Mrs. Collins’ grace and grandeur, then look at them; it’s like night and day."
"Mrs. Collins, you’re so bold. No wonder the Collins group has been doing so well for so many years."
"Mrs. Collins, how about having dinner at my new restaurant?"
"Ah, why not come to my place? We just opened a resort nearby."
"No, no, no, come to my place for a hot spring bath. My husband just bought a hot spring hotel!"
Yolanda smirked, grabbed some water from the faucet to splash at Rosemary, then bolted out of the restroom, making a show of messing up her hair as if she had been attacked.
Think he can run?
Rosemary moved quickly, catching Yolanda and slamming her against the wall, landing a solid slap across her face.
The force of the slap knocked Yolanda off balance.
"Ahh." Yolanda’s plan was going perfectly.
All she had to do was lean into that guy, and he’d instinctively catch her. That would make her plan half successful!
But she never expected that Romeo would pretend not to see her and instead walk towards Rosemary, asking, "What’s the matter?"
"None of your business."
Rosemary turned to Yolanda, her icy eyes blazing with anger, grabbed Yolanda by the throat, and pinned her against the wall. "Who’s the old man? Say it again!"
"Sis, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I can’t breathe. Let go. Help." Yolanda put on a show of being in extreme pain.
"Rosemary, what the hell are you doing?" Olga yelled, rushing over.
The entire venue was drawn to the spectacle.
Seeing Olga charging towards Rosemary, apparently ready to give her a piece of her mind, Louisa quickly weaved through the crowd to step in.
"You’re trying to provoke me? Who’s your audience?" Rosemary tightened her grip. "You think I won’t strangle you right here and now?"
"Rosemary!" Olga stormed over, only to be blocked by a handsome figure.
