Chapter 5

Jaxon was about to kill this guy–his assistant jumped in. “Boss, stop! Dead guy’s gonna be a nightmare to deal with.”

Jaxon dropped his hands but still beat the shit outta him.

Bodyguard looked at Scarlett all desperate–she was half–naked in bed.

“Ms. Vale, save me!”

Scarlett played victim, hid under the sheets. “Jax, get this psycho out! He’s bleeding

everywhere–it’s gross!”

“And I swear I don’t know him!”

But Jaxon totally ignored her–his eyes were glued to the divorce papers on the floor.

He picked up the bloody papers, couldn’t believe what he was seeing–our wedding photo

staring back at him.

After forever, it hit him.

Five years ago, wedding night–he made me sign papers with automatic expiration.

Even told his assistant to file them when time came.

Jaxon grabbed his head, frustrated.

Completely forgot they expired a month ago–same day he made me fix Scarlett.

Worst part? His wife got raped by his own bodyguard?!

Jaxon never felt this kind of panic before. Like he was losing something forever.

Chapter 5

No way to get it back.

Thinking about it, his whole body started shaking uncontrollably.

He traced my face in the photo, looked at his assistant. “Where is she?”

Assistant’s face went pale. “She’s been missing for a month.”

He glanced at Scarlett hiding like a scared rabbit in bed. “We did what you said–waited till you two flew out, then went to grab her.”

“But she was already gone when we got there.”

“Door was all scratched up.”

“And… shit, when we walked in, it was freezing in there–maybe five degrees. Mrs. Reed

probably went into shock from the cold, that’s why she was scratching like crazy.”

“I tried calling you immediately but Ms. Vale answered, said she’d pass it along.”

Jaxon stared at Scarlett, voice deadly. “You touched my phone?”

“You turned down the heat on purpose?”

Scarlett saw she was caught, got defensive. “I didn’t want that bitch ruining our vacation!”

“She hurt me first! I just wanted her to suffer a little!”

“SMACK!”

Scarlett grabbed her face, shocked. “Jax, you HIT me?!”

“Don’t you love me anymore?”

Jaxon was pissed as hell. “What gave you the balls to fuck with MY wife?”

Chapter 5

“I’ve been way too good to you!”

Scarlett’s emotions exploded, sobbing. “She’s just some bodyguard’s sloppy seconds! Why

does SHE get to be Mrs. Reed?”

“Jax, you promised you’d marry me!”

“You said I look like your dead sister!”

“We’re family, marry me! I’ll be so much better than Phoenix, I swear!”

Jaxon squeezed her face harder. “Without that face, you think I’d look twice at some hooker?”

Then he looked at the bodyguard. “You just said she could save you?”

“Spill everything. Maybe I’ll let you live.”

Scarlett immediately cut him off. “Jax, don’t listen to him! I don’t know this freak!”

That bastard puked blood, eyes burning red as he glared at Scarlett. “Cousin, I did EXACTLY what you fucking told me–raped his wife. Now you’re throwing me under the bus?!”

“YOU said he didn’t give a shit about her! YOU said I could have her! YOU set this whole

thing up!”

Feeling Jaxon’s murderous energy, Scarlett didn’t care about being naked–dropped to her

knees.

“Jax, don’t listen to his lies! I seriously don’t know him!”

Bodyguard was also on his knees, banging his head on the floor. “Boss, I swear I didn’t mean to! Scarlett Vale set me up!”

“Oh! You wanna find Mrs. Reed? She’s at the Blackstone estate in Seattle! Please, PLEASE

don’t kill me!”

Chapter 5

Jaxon had Scarlett by the throat. “I gave you everything, and you got THIS greedy?”

“Nobody touches Phoenix except me. NOBODY!”

He looked psychotic, telling his other guys: “Lock them up together.”

“Make them fuck.”

Scarlett went white, grabbing Jaxon’s legs. “NO! Jax, please!”

“I only want YOU! I don’t want anyone else!”

But Jaxon kicked her off, grabbed the bodyguard’s chin. “Do her exactly like

Phoenix.”

“I don’t say stop, you don’t fucking stop. Clear?”

“You wanna live? Better put on a good show.”

Bodyguard nodded frantically, immediately jumping on Scarlett.

Scarlett kept begging. “Jax, I fucked up! Please save me!”

“Cousin, cousin, don’t touch me!”

“AHHH! Get OFF me!”

“SLAP SLAP SLAP!”

Scarlett’s face got smacked around. “Fucking bitch! If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be in this

mess!”

“I’m gonna destroy you!!”

Jaxon walked out, assistant following.

“Sir, back to Boston?”

He stopped. “Seattle.”

“Find out Phoenix’s connection to the Blackstones.”
