Ditching Me for His 'Soulmate'? His Loss. Next Stop: My New Life novel Chapter 25

Chapter 12

The moment my eyesight was restored, I realized one thing:

The only person you can truly rely on to protect yourself is you.

So I took up Brazilian jiujitsu.

From then on, I didn’t need anyone else to protect me.

Grayson stood frozen, stunned by how quickly I had taken control.

Meanwhile, Lillian, sprawled on the ground, glared at me with venomous hatred.

Grayson stormed over to her, his expression dark, and without warning, slapped her hard

across the face.

You wretched woman! How dare you try to hurt Vivian? I’ll make you pay for this!

Lillian stared at him in disbelief, her voice rising.

You hit me? For her?

When you were in that woman’s bed with me, you didn’t act like this!she spat.

When you tore my clothes off, you weren’t this righteous!

Her words spilled out like poison, exposing every sordid detail.

Grayson’s face twisted with rage, and he struck her again.

Shut up!

He turned to me, his eyes searching for something, maybe remorse or understanding.

Chapter 12

But I met his gaze with calm indifference.

Are you done?I asked flatly. Denying it won’t change anything. I’ve known about all of it for a long time.

With that, I called the police and walked back to the medical station, leaving Grayson standing there, watching my retreating figure with a mix of regret and helplessness.

In the end, Lillian was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

That slap from Grayson must have jolted something loose in her mind, because she confessed everything.

She revealed how Grayson had drugged her and forcibly terminated her pregnancy, killing

the unborn child without her consent.

Her confession led to a police investigation, and Grayson was also arrested.

I heard that in prison, Grayson spent his days sitting quietly, clutching the photo he’d salvaged from the trash.

But even that didn’t last.

One day, another inmateone of the prison bulliessnatched the photo and burned it right

in front of him.

Not long after, news came that Grayson had taken his own life.

The story of our sevenyear relationship ended like that.

In a way, both of us lost.

I lost seven precious years of my youth.

He lost the kind and upright man he once was, turning into someone desperate and

unscrupulous.

Chapter 12

But I was fortunateI still had so much to protect, so much to fight for.

In the years that followed, my skills as a physician grew.

I transitioned from psychology to surgery, picking up the scalpel again and saving countless

lives.

During my three years in medical aid, I gained far more than I could have imagined.

I received national awards, banners of gratitude from patients, and the satisfaction of knowing my work truly mattered.

Now, I dedicate myself fully to medicine, to healing, and to moving forward with purpose.

No regrets, no looking backjust the unwavering pursuit of saving lives.
