Chapter 182
Anna’s POV:
Scarlett extended her slender finger toward Blake, her eyes wide with anticipation. My body froze as I recognized the ring in Blake’s hand
ring.
The same one I’d left behind at Seaside Manor months ago.
I couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe, my feet suddenly rooted to the floor as if they’d grown into the marble beneath me.
Four years ago, Blake had slipped that very ring onto my finger. Now here he was, about to place it on another woman’s hand..
The room seemed to tilt and sway around me as I struggled to make sense of what I was witnessing.
Blake knelt perfectly on one knee, his tailored suit inimaculate as always.

His posture was flawless – a picture–perfect proposal scene straight out of a romantic movie. But this was no movie. This was my life unraveling before my
eyes.
“Yes, yes!” Scarlett nearly screamed, covering her mouth with her free hand. Tears spilled down her cheeks as she practically bounced with excitement. “I do!”
But Blake didn’t immediately place the ring on her finger.
Instead, he first took out the matching men’s band and deliberately slid it onto his own finger.
His blue eyes focused intensely on his hand, his expression unreadable.
felt like an intruder watching something intimate and private, yet I couldn’t tear my gaze away.
This surreal tableau held me captive, forcing me to witness every excruciating second.
Scarlett leaned forward, eager to kiss him, but Blake subtly pulled back, maintaining a sliver of distance between them.
“Let’s wait until the ring is on,‘ he said with a polite smile. “Then everything will be official.”
Scarlett stopped, momentarily embarrassed, a flush creeping up her heck, but quickly recovered her expectant expression, finger still outstretched.
Claire suddenly rushed to Blake’s side, her ballet–trained movements quick and graceful despite her obvious agitation.
She tugged at his arm, trying to pull him to his feet, her knuckles white with effort. He didn’t budge an inch, as immovable as stone.
When that failed, she grabbed Scarlett’s arm instead, attempting to pull her away from Blake.
‘Claire, what are you doing? Don’t touch me!” Scarlett hissed, yanking her arm free with such force that Claire stumbled backward.
Claire released her grip, her lips curling into a cold smirk.
She stepped back, crossing her arms, watching the scene unfold with calculated intensity.
‘Blakey,” she said in her typical whiny voice, “this isn’t something to joke about. Are you sure about this?”
Blake’s voice was rough with emotion, deeper than usual. “The woman who wears this ring is my wife, the daughter–in–law of the Wright family, and the future lady of the house.”
Scarlett gazed at him adoringly, her mascara slightly smudged from her tears. “Blake, I never thought you’d actually propose to me. I keep wondering what I did to deserve you. You’ve given me a security I’ve never felt before, a chance to have a real family. You said you’d make me the happiest woman in the world and you have!”

Chapter 182
She extended her finger again, trembling slightly “Blake, I love you?
The moment her words faded, a crystal champagne flute shattered at her feet with a sound like breaking ice,
Glass fragments scattered across the polished floor, and one sliced Blake’s hand that held the ring box, drawing a thin line of bloot across fil palm
“What the hell are you doing! Are you out of your mind? William’s voice thundered across
the
hall
He snatched the wine glass from Caroline’s hand and hurled it toward Blake’s head with surprising strength for a man his age.
Scarlett jumped in front of Blake without hesitation, and the glass crashed against her back, staining her cream–colored dress with red wine.
The entire ballroom erupted into chaos.
Scarlett winced in pain but stood firmly between William and Blake, her jaw set determinedly despite the tears streaming down her face. “We love each other, truly love each other,‘ she cried, one hand pressed against her back where the glass had struck.
Love each other. I hadn’t even experienced what real love felt like in this lifetime.
Maybe William was objecting so strongly because I was present.
Perhaps if I left, they could be happy together. I should just go and let them be. Let Blake have his fairy tale with Scarlett, if that’s what he wanted.
“I should leave, Mr. Wright,” I said quietly, moving toward William to say goodbye, no longer interested in this pair of ‘star–crossed lovers.”
On my way out, I heard that Scarlett was injured and William had been taken back to the hospital due to heart problems.
I drifted through the chaos in a daze, Blake’s words to Scarlett echoing in my mind: “This ring only has one owner.”
Later that night, I bought a ticket for the first flight to New York. After landing, I called Seth.
“Anna!” His voice crackled through the phone.
I laughed softly. “Seth! It’s freezing cold there!”
