Seth held up three fingers and swore, his expression pleading. I ignored his puppy dog eyes and shook my head firmly. I didn’t want him making deckone he’d regret later.

Any argument I had prepared was silenced by the determination in his eyes. All I could ask was, ‘What are you planning to do?”

I also messaged Emily, telling her about my plans to settle in New York with Seth.

Not wanting to stay alone in the dark hotel room, I booked a train ticket to New York for that night…

The next morning, I followed the address Seth had sent me to visit the new apartment he’d bought. I felt like I was opening a surprise gift.
