The sharp, mocking words hung in the air, followed by a thick silence. All eyes were on Jerrold, the so-called big shot whose bluff had just been called.
Saskia and Janet, who had been furious just a moment ago, now struggled to hold back their laughter. It was incredibly satisfying. Mess with Juniper? That was just asking for trouble.
Jerrold’s fists clenched at his sides, his face a mottled mess of shame and anger as he felt the weight of everyone's stares.
“Everything?” Yolanda finally broke the silence, her face a cold mask of fury. “Jerrold was just being polite. I can’t believe you had the nerve to make such an outrageous demand. I think you came here just to cause trouble.”
She raised her voice, turning to the manager. “If you don’t handle this, I’m escalating my complaint to your superiors. If I remember correctly, I can email your designer, Jennie, directly.”
The threat of contacting the boss sent a chill down the manager's spine. Ms. Sherwin was a VIP; her complaint would be taken seriously. More importantly, he knew for a fact that Jennie was currently in Eclara City. She could show up at any moment.
“Ms. Sherwin, please, calm down,” the manager said hastily. “Why don’t you have a seat and rest? I’ll take care of this.”
“Hurry up. We have other places to be,” Yolanda said, taking Jerrold’s arm and leading him to the sofa, where she began touching up her makeup.
Jerrold remained silent, his face stony as he seethed with a quiet rage. It was clear now that Juniper was just toying with him, making him look like a fool.
Fearing Yolanda's complaint, the manager decided to pick on the easier target. His tone became harsh. “Miss, if you and your friends don’t leave now, I’ll have to call security.”
He had tried to be civil, but they had pushed him too far.
“Tsk.” Juniper settled onto the other end of the sofa, crossing her slender legs. She tapped her fingers lightly on the armrest, her voice laced with frost. “It seems no one here is capable of serving us.”
The manager and the sales associates remained silent, their expressions confirming her statement.
Just as the manager was about to dial, a sales associate rushed to his side. “Sir!” she whispered urgently. “It’s Jennie. She’s here.”
“What?” The manager whipped his head around, nearly dropping his phone.
“Jennie, our boss and head designer! She just got here. She’s downstairs and will be up in a few minutes,” the associate said, practically bouncing on her feet with anxiety.
How could that be? They hadn't notified her. Unless…
The manager’s eyes darted toward Yolanda, his heart pounding.
Could she have already sent that complaint email? If Jennie was rushing over this quickly, she must take Ms. Sherwin’s business very seriously.
