On Monday, the biennial television ’Golden Cauldron Award’ began its online voting prelude.
The Golden Cauldron Award is the nation’s official highest award for television dramas, hosted by the Broadcasting and Television Department and jointly organized by Television Arts, Broadcasting and Television, and Television Weekly. It reviews and judges the ideological and artistic achievements of dramas from the previous year or the current year. It is the earliest established, longest-running television award in television history.
The award categories are numerous, including ’Best Television Drama Award’, ’Outstanding Director Award’, ’Best Screenplay Award’, ’Best Music Award’, ’Popular Actor and Actress Award’, ’Best Actor Award’, ’Best Actress Award’, ’Audience’s Favorite Actor and Actress Award’...and the most anticipated, also the most prestigious, ’Most Influential Actor of the Year Award’ (Golden Cup).
As soon as the voting channel opened, all the hit dramas released on major networks within two years actively participated. To compete for the awards, Conquest of the World released all its unaired episodes for paid viewing on video apps.
In the past, dramas that opened for paid viewing would inevitably be scolded by the audience as unscrupulous capitalists harvesting leeks. But when Conquest of the World was released, the audience and fans excitedly hailed the CEO of Star Entertainment as a hero.
Because this drama was just too popular, six episodes a week were not enough to feed everyone. Especially in the later stages, when Shen Jinyou turned evil and confronted Gu Tianlin both in court and on the battlefield. The thrilling intrigues kept everyone glued to the screen, eagerly anticipating who would ultimately prevail. Yet, when those paying tuned in to the final episodes, everyone was utterly dumbfounded by the plot unfoldment.
Shen Jinyou, wise and strategic, a born leader, was invincible wherever he went. Finally, after three days and nights of fierce fighting, he led the Hengshan Army and reached the Forbidden City’s gates.
The final battle was imminent; however, in the Yangxin Palace, Gu Tianlin was severely injured and unable to fight. Xia Qingshao was heartbroken. To protect herself and her loved ones, she feigned illness and had a messenger send a letter to Shen Jinyou: The Crown Princess Consort is critically ill and may not last three days, hoping to see an old friend one last time, urging General Shen to come.
That day, the sky was very overcast, the clouds heavy, and the soldiers on the city walls clutched their bows and arrows, seemingly envisioning enemies everywhere.
They welcomed a young man dressed in elegant white.
The brilliant, shrewd, fearsome Crown Prince of the Desert North Army, because of one word from his senior sister, came alone, in plain clothes, without a single weapon or escort, into the treacherous trap at Ande Gate.
On the city wall, Gu Tianlin three times pressured him to surrender, but each time he calmly and humorously refused with ease.
Finally, the senior sister he longed for appeared, and as Shen Jinyou looked at her, his eyes shone brighter than the blazing sun.
Little did he know, this time, she had come for his life.
Xia Qingshao pierced an arrow deep into Shen Jinyou’s chest, hitting the mark.
Shen Jinyou lowered his head, gazing at the poisoned arrow, full of disbelief in his eyes. Immediately, countless arrows rained down, a love flower fell from his chest, and torrential rain poured from the sky. That unparalleled, deeply passionate Crown Prince fell into a pool of blood; even in death, he could not believe that his senior sister would kill him...
The audience could not help but burst into tears at this scene, and even the bullet comments were filled with a tragic, angry atmosphere.
[Shen Jinyou died? No! No! I can’t accept this. He’ll probably come back to life, right? If not, I’m going to kill the screenwriter!]
[Damn! Xia Qingshao’s last words really ruined my worldview, causing someone to lose family and home, being poisoned and in the end, advised him to be kind? Ugh, I even dislike the actor, what a White Lotus act.]
[Exactly, this part made me want to vomit seeing her Green Tea face, with an attitude of acting for the world’s people. At least Gu Tianlin had some guilt and regret, but she acted as if she were blameless and it was all Shen Jinyou’s fault.]
[Will anyone agree if I say Gu Tianlin and Xia Qingshao are a pair of scumbags?]
[No, everyone, don’t over-identify the actors with TV roles. If you hate the character, it shows they’ve acted well. The Golden Cauldron Award voting has started, so hurry and vote!]
[Huh? First time hearing that disliking a female lead means she’s acted well? Luo Yuwei’s handling of expressions was clearly problematic, okay? Shen Jinyou, although a villain, had such deep emotions with her, considering her as his first love. Even if killing him for the world was necessary, her eyes shouldn’t be filled with hatred, right? That’s not how it was written in the novel, what garbage acting.]
[Damn, forget it, my favorite character is gone. I won’t be watching this series anymore, thanks!]
[Shen Jinyou is dead, what’s the point of watching further? Are you kidding me? No wonder they released the last few episodes all at once; if they aired them one by one, no one would continue watching at this point.]
[Voting?? Brother Ye is the second lead, and the Golden Cauldron Award doesn’t have a Best Supporting Actor category, so what am I supposed to vote for?]
[Damn, Brother Ye’s acting is so good, I’ve already separated him from Shen Jinyou. Now thinking that he is Brother Ye, I cried again! It’s really too tragic, Brother Ye, for the sake of my mental health, please don’t take such tragic roles anymore, I’ve cried for a year now.]
