Chapter 295
Anastasia arrived at the private dining room before Cassian. When he walked in, he found her sitting at the table looking lost in thought.
As Cassian approached, Anastasia heard footsteps and instinctively looked toward the door, accidentally meeting his worried
gaze.
“What are you in the mood for today?”
Cassian could tell something was bothering her, so he wanted to cheer her up.
“Nothing specific really. Just order whatever,” Anastasia said.
“Okay.”
Even though she said “whatever,” Cassian ordered all her favorites–various seafood dishes and some fried foods.
Fried food might not be healthy, but it tasted amazing and had a way of lifting your spirits.
The food arrived quickly, and by the end of the meal, Anastasia was feeling much better.
“You know what they say–when you’re feeling down, food fixes everything. And if one meal doesn’t work, have another,” she
said.
Seeing that her mood had improved, Cassian took her hand gently. “Now can you tell me what was bothering you?”
“It’s nothing really. Just feeling randomly moody. Probably Mother Nature paying me a visit soon,” Anastasia said with a slight grimace.
“Mother Nature? Who’s that? Someone you don’t like?” Cassian asked, looking genuinely confused. “I can handle her for you.”
Anastasia stared at him for a moment, then burst out laughing despite herself. “Oh honey, no. That’s not… you can’t exactly
handle‘ Mother Nature.”
Cassian’s brow furrowed. “I don’t understand.”
“It’s just… you know, Shark Week. The crimson tide. Code red,” she said, watching his face for any sign of recognition.
Still nothing.
“My period, Cassian. I’m probably getting my period soon.”
Understanding dawned on his face, followed immediately by a slight blush. “Oh. Right.”
Cassian leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Well, if it doesn’t show up, we’ll figure it out together.”
Anastasia felt her brain short–circuit for a moment.
She’d thought he was completely clueless about women’s health, but apparently he understood the implications perfectly!

She shot him a look. “So you do know what that would mean.”
“I didn’t at first.” Cassian admitted, “but I had Philips order me some books on women’s health and… related topics. I’ve been
studying.”
Anastasia’s mouth dropped open. “You’ve been… studying women’s periods?”
*Among other things,” he said matter–of–factly. “I wanted to understand you better.”
She couldn’t decide whether to be touched or mortified that he’d been reading period guides like they were business manuals.
“That’s… very thorough of you,” she managed.
“So, what do you think of my new profile picture? Do you like it?”
Anastasia paused mid–bite. Here we go.
“About that… I wasn’t trying to vandalize your book on purpose. I just got carried away and started doodling,” she said, though even she knew her explanation sounded weak.
Cassian squeezed her hand gently. “I’m not upset. I think it’s beautiful. You should draw more–I love seeing your work.”
Anastasia’s face turned bright red as she nodded stiffly.
When they finished lunch and stepped out of the private room, they ran into Richard and Lancey coming out of the room across the hall.
Richard was holding Lancey’s hand naturally, and when he saw Anastasia and Cassian, he didn’t let go or seem embarrassed–just pleasantly surprised. “Are you two eating here today too?”
“The food here is excellent,” Cassian replied.
“Lancey mentioned she hadn’t eaten out in ages, so I brought her here,” Richard said. “If you like it, maybe next time we could all…”
Lancey cleared her throat softly and gave Richard a meaningful look.
