Entangled with the Mafia Don novel Chapter 36

Ezra's POV:

The drive to my house was a blur of conflicting emotions. Anger at Ivan, a simmering possessiveness towards Davina, and a reluctant sense of responsibility for her current state warred within me. The cool night air seemed to have cleared some of the drug's immediate effects, but she remained unsteady, her movements jerky and uncoordinated.

My house was quiet, the vast, echoing rooms a stark contrast to the chaotic energy of the club. I helped Davina out of the car, her weight still slightly off-kilter. As we walked towards the entrance, she stumbled, her ankle twisting beneath her. I reacted instantly, my arm wrapping around her waist, pulling her close to prevent a fall.

"Careful," I murmured, the feel of her slight frame against mine sending a jolt of something unfamiliar through me.

Inside, I guided her towards the guest bedroom, a spacious room with a large, comfortable bed. But she resisted, her grip tightening on my arm. "No," she mumbled, her voice still thick with the drug. "Stay with me."

I hesitated. The situation was already precarious enough. Being alone with her in this state… it was a dangerous proposition. "You need to rest, Davina," I said, gently trying to steer her towards the bed.

She shook her head vehemently, her eyes, though still somewhat glazed, focusing on me with an unsettling intensity. "Don't leave me, Ezra." Her voice was a soft plea, laced with a vulnerability that tugged at something I couldn't quite name.

As I tried to guide her again, she became increasingly agitated, her movements jerky and uncoordinated. She reached out, her hands fumbling with the buttons of my shirt, her touch sending unexpected sparks through me.

"Davina," I said, my voice firm, stepping back slightly. "Stop."

Her gaze flickered down to my chest, then back up to mine, a strange, almost predatory glint in her eyes. "You're… so handsome! If only you weren't the devil." she slurred, her fingers tracing the line of my jaw.

The unexpected compliment, the blatant flirtation, was disarming. The she called me the Devil. In a twisted way, I liked it. The way she said it.. The aphrodisiac was clearly still wreaking havoc on her system, stripping away her inhibitions. A dangerous heat began to build within me, a primal response to her touch, her proximity.
